As much as the rest of the band are really good, I don't see the chili peppers doing too well without John. I had always thought Flea was ready to quit the band as well before John came back and did Californication, saying that he would only continue if John came back. Maybe their success since then has changed that, but I will probably lose interest in them without John's unique style. One Hot Minute had a few good, couple of great songs on it but everything they've done since then (and with John) has been superior.

"This wouldn't be the first time Frusciante has split from the band: Overwhelmed by the success of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, he quit in 1992 and descended into heroin addiction."

He's one lucky guy in the end, do you think Navarro would rejoin? or get another guitarist?

Sad news! They compose AWESOME material. Maybe this is another and then they can return with another amazing album like "Californication". This album paid the time that John wasn't on the band. It's fantastic! It would interesting to see Navarro again in RHCP. One hot minute is a very original album. Let's see what happen...

Tension in the interviews and on gigs could definitely be observed, but leaving the band was a bad surprise. Sad to hear that, they were awesome band, and now the band is gone. I don't think the band can continue and write good material with new guitar player.

It sounds positive hearing it come from John that way. While there are undoubtedly pr rules in place not allowing the band to talk about the 'John questions', if he quit then there's no such restriction for John, and he comes across as the kind of guy who tells you straight. As long as he's not all shot up on heroin or whatever he was doing before rejoining the peppers, we'll probably hear some good music from him. And who knows, maybe the peppers can put out another One Hot Minute.

RHCP were loosing their touch over the years for me, I used to like them alot, especially on the Californication. I don't have many hopes this will help either but good luck to both ends smile.gif

For me since he returned I wasn't that fussed about them. Thought they just became a pop band.

OHM is a great album and the ones before, BSSM, Mothers Milk etc

but yeah, he'll return and they'll do some greatest hits tours or something no doubt..

Josh Klinghoffer is John's successor. I also hate to hear that John quits especially that he did that already a year ago. The existing band are all brilliant musicians but there maybe problems though. John was not only a brilliant guitarist but also an awesome incredilbe composer. His understanding of harmony is very unique.
But I do also love is solo work albums so he won't be lost smile.gif
