Flyod Rose Tremolo, dbz bird of prey

I have a zelinsky bird of prey, played a long time but this is my first trem. It came set up with 9`s but I want to change the strings to 12`s but a friend has said that to do that I need to fit extra spings? even just renewing the strings seems like its going to be a real pain anyone here got any tips because this is a great guitar just different to what I`m used to. Take off your back cover and you will see a few extra places you can put a new on , i would,there is five spaces and you need four springs put two on top and two on the bottom . basically you ars trying to make them as even as possilble You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. New springs, putting in the new strings, adjusting the tremolo, adjusting the neck bow and propably even new intontation (I assume you will not use standard E tuning)... I think it would be best to get it done in a shop or by a luthier because it's not an easy task for someone who has no experience with Flyod Rose tremolos. I am just now getting to where I can change the strings with out some kind of problem and it came with 9's and that is what I use. I only kept trying until I got it right because I did not really pay a whole lot for it. I think you should take it in and have this done since it appears to be a pretty decent guitar or at least over $500. I don't know anything about the zelinsky bird of prey at all. So I agree. Wylde is right L however if your are going to go to a pro ,first it would not hurt to get your feet wet.change the springs how i described,then tune , then look down the neck, is it straight if not - with a alan wrench -at the nut , take the cover off and turn ,see what hapens to the neck , does it bow or become straight ( look down the neck before you start to see what it looks like now) REMEMBER small adjustments and look after every tweek. once the neck is back to normal )you will tune the guitar, and note that once tuned ,your tremelo angle might need to adlusted so that it sits flat or like it did before you changed springs. to chane the angle you will need ,probably a phillips , to tighten or loosen the plate that the springs are attched to , being careful that you don't break the ground . You will probally go back and forth between these two steps a few times . Then check for string buzz ,if there is , rise the height of the bridge by the alan wrench holes on either side REMEBER SMALL ADJUSTMENTS don't over think it. everything you do will make sense if the neck is bowed ------straighten it does the bridge lay flat ----adjust it is there string buzz -adjust it a pro will be your best bet for a perfect guitar set up ,but this is the majority a what they do, they do alot so it is second nature have fun You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. I`m going to stick to 9`s for now because just changing strings looks a bit of a task and after I`ve learned a bit about this stuff I`ll have a go or see if I can find an expert who is willing to show me. I would`nt mind if I was any good on this lol this trem is so delicate I sound drunk half the time I would`nt mind but I`m sober! It's not rocket sience but it is also not easy, especially if you have no experience in setting up a guitar at all. The best solution would be finding an expert to do it in front of you! OR you can get it to luthier, give him some 10-40$ and save yourself a hassle.
