Hey GMC,

Me and some friends are planning on taking part in our schools anual "talent show". ATM we have a singer (girl) who can play guitar, for rhythm, a drummer, a bassist and me on lead guitar. So, we have it all. Now the problem, what song???

We only have one song to play, to crush the audience. We are open to music in between pop and hard rock, and suggestions that did'nt make it (to give a clue on what sort of music) are Black Betty, Layla, Crossroads and Beast of Burden.

Now, it's very important that the singer is a girl, so we can't do any Foo Fighters stuff, or anything like that. It doesn't have to be modern stuff either, 80's are even older is fine as well, as long as it rocks biggrin.gif

Pls, post some suggestions!!

Thanks guys! Kaz

Wish I could help, but I know very little of this style of music (it's a sad truth, I need to learn more of the classic stuff). I will say that Black Betty is possibly the coolest song in the world XD

Yep, but our Drummer said he wasn't able to play it, so it's not available tongue.gif haha, but it doesn't have to be classics!

Magic Man - Heart

plenty of room for a lady with a strong voice to belt out some killer notes, and many of the guitar phrases are right up your alley.

Everybody Knows - Concrete Blonde

Slow start but when it picks up the vocals are HUGE. You can also simply choose to start it off a little stronger than the leonard cohen / concrete blonde styles of doing this song.

Don't Stop Believing - Journey

An oddly effective crowd pleaser and pretty flexible if you want to make it a little heavier. Steve's range is way up there too; the female vocalists I've worked with have no trouble with it.

Mate, if you really wanna "crush" your audience .... laugh.gif .. they'll remember you forever !!

And if she can really sing this, I might need her number tongue.gif

p.s - Hope you see some humour in this .. I really couldnt help , so thought I'll brighten up the thread a bit .. by splashing some metal on this clean and pure thread, haha

Why did you rule out Beast Of Burden, its a fantastic song, with a great guitar riff and can be done by a girl (Bette Middlear did it!).

How about "Still Got The Blues", would sound good with a husky female voice. or "Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company

I vote for Barracuda, that's a great song, presuming that your singer can sing it.

i'd actually say "Sweet Child of Mine".

Ya, it's Axl singing it, but not many guys can pull that off, and with a girl singing it they wont compare it with with Axl's version..
