My goal for this year is to start working on some modal backing tracks. Just short little solos to get used to playing with the modes. This is a short take over a B Phrygian backing track.......which was made by David Wallimann..... smile.gif

Happy new year everybody and I hope everyone keeps rocking...... smile.gif

Nice one Monte!
It's good to see that you're mixing it up with some of your awesome tapping technique and using the pick. Maybe I've only seen your pure tapping takes before, but this one adds a lot of interest with a mix of techniques. Good job.

It's a good take, but one thing I couldn't help but think was that there was a lot of notes crammed together and not enough space to breathe.

Thanks James. I'm really trying to work on "mixing it up". I'm still not so great at using the pick but I'm working on it..... smile.gif

That is a great vid Ben. I'll really work on that. Phrasing is such a tough thing to do......... smile.gif I do tend to cram in too many notes...... laugh.gif

Great approach Monte. Always use it in a real situation whatever you learn. No point just learning scales and not do anything with them. Your solo is really cool smile.gif

Very nice solo, and although the rhythmical structure is a bit flat, everything was played very nicely.

It's not necersarily (spelling?) a band thing to have lots of notes crammed together, but if it's just played out in one line without breaks, it's for me just like "blahblahblahblahblah", but impressive none the less. So a little variation in phrasing length would be nice.
