How To Restring A Floyd Lesson |

Is the lesson really needed for that? I simply take off my strings and put the new ones
 There is no big science about it unless you've never dealed with floyd rose guitar. Even in that case it is very simple to do and figure out in a minute.

I guess it'd be a lot easier if you just block your tremolo when changing strings,
people use many things for that, piece of wood etc but I strongly recommend you THIS.

I wanted to make this tutorial, but I don't have a FL guitar, so this is the reason
Although many tips from existing tutorial can be applied to FL type of guitar too.

If you replace them one by one you can tune the new ones easier and you have less tuning work to do after, thats my experience. But from time to time you want to clean the fretboard or something else, you have to take off all the strings. And personally, i dont like it to have to have tension on the trem all the way through the changing process because that leaves me with one hand only for the main work. So what i do is, i block the trem at its initial position so it cant "fall" into the body, that way i can easily change the strings, clean the fretboard and so on (For my guitar, it would be bad to let the trem just fall because it would damage the paint in the trem cavity, and i dont like that...). I usualy use a custom made piece of wood to block witha soft cloth to protect the paint under it. Its good to use something for the blocking that wont touch the screws you need to loosen (Thats why i custome made a piece of wood for my guitar ).

Well yeah, replacing them one by one is probably easier tuning wise, you replace one, tune it, then another one etc. Bad thing about it is that you are not able to fully clean up your fretboard. It's because the floyd goes back if there are no strings so you have to hold it while putting new ones. I do it that "harder" way Muris posted link for the nice tool which can avoid that trouble.
