Ok...so it all started when I was bouncing around ebay one day (very dangerous to do! tongue.gif ) and I saw this airbrushed strat body and neck for sale - quite cheap! I have always played around with the idea of building a metal only strat...since you rarely see strats setup for pure metal music! Not only do I want this thing to be a metal guitar...but kind of an "over the top metal" almost cheesy it's so metal guitar! laugh.gif I have never built a guitar...at all, so this is quite an undertaking for me! I bought the body and neck, and it arrived a few days later. First impressions were that the skulls look awesome in person...but the neck seemed to have a pretty bad twist in it. I contacted the seller, and he was gracious enough to send me a maple neck for free to make up for it. Can't ask for much more than that! I want to built this guitar to completion, and keep it on as much of a budget as I can. I am using inexpensive parts for it and don't expect it to be up to American strat standards...but I am doing it for the fun and learning experience! So far, I have only purchased a black pickguard with chrome hardware and dual chrome Dragonfire humbuckers. Two humbuckers on a strat you ask?! ohmy.gif YES!! I told you it was an all metal project \m/!! To be honest, I think I like the maple neck better than the airbrushed one...seems like a more attractive contrast. Anyway...I will keep you guys posted with my progress!

Ben

p.s. Oh yeah...any and all advice and tips will be appreciated! cool.gif

Nice one Ben!!!

I wrote an article HERE about doing a Build your own Strat. If you need any more help just PM me, I'll be glad to offer any assistance I can!

Official Fender with 2 Humbuckers??

Strat-o-sonic anyone???

Standard Strat with 2 HB's!

I remember a friend buying one of the first ones here in England in the early/mid 80's it was Black with white 'V' stripes across the body and loaded with2 Dimarzio's and a Kahler Spyder Trem! (Very 80's) I don't think they produced this one for long though.

They even produced a Squier version:-
