Lately I noticed that when I pick with palm muting my forearm touches the body of my guitar, whereas when i'm not palm muting it flows above it. My question is: is it right to change the position of the forearm?

Thank you

Massimo

The best strategy is to let your arm decide, if you feel like changing the position a bit when doing, let's say, palm muting, strumming, arpeggiating, feel free to do do. You always have to ask your "Is this hand position productive?".

Sure, the hands are in constant movement. It's important to be efficient with movements as well, so bare that in mind too.

Absolutely!
As long as you feel relaxed, and as long as you get what you want from your hands, it's perfectly ok!

Your picking hand will eventually find the best position that suits it for each technique. This of course take time and countless hours of practice. You could even argue and say that it is all mechanical type memory as well. Post some video(s) of yourself playing so that we could check up on your right hand man.

My arms/hands/fingers also change positions depending on what I am playing, as long as you are relaxed and the result sounds like you want it to sound I don't see any problem.

gor faster stuff I would say that you need to have your palm very tightly pressed to the strings as a general "rule" but I agree it depends on how it feels
