Hi guys

I am finally about to start gigging with my surf rock band, and I`m planning to build me a pedalboard. At the same time, we`re reducing a four man punkrock band to a trio, which means I need to expand my sound as a bass player a little.

I would like to build the board myself because I work at a shop which gives me nice prices on most of the material, and I think that the "complete" pedalboards you can buy for 5 pedals or more are way too expensive.

The main idea is that it must be easy to change the pedals, since I will use the same board both for bass and guitar gigs, and I will not build it large enough to contain both sets of pedals at once tongue.gif Though, some of the pedals (such as tuner etc.) will be used for both instruments.

Does anybody has some drawings or such I can borrow some ideas from? It doesn`t need to be built like a tanks since I won`t be tossing it from high buildings or so, but It must be solid enoiugh to transport at least wink.gif
While I`m at it, are there some things I should be very attentive on? Like powersupply, AC/DC or whatever?

-Magnus

On my pedalboard I have a system with this kinda of "tape" that clings into each other (the same as in clothes, if You know what I mean) On the one side its tape(attached to the pedal & the board) and on the other side it has some small pigs that cling in together... (kardborrband in Swedish) This works fairly well and its easy to replace the pedals. If You then have a case for it that holds the pedals while transporting it, it works well. Boss have a power unit that I use that support 8 9v-pedals as well as 4 12v-units that has a reasonable prize. Of course its possible to build a power-supply by Yourself with just a transformer etc. , but its a lot of more work.....

Ah, I know what kinda of tape you mean! Borrelås in Norwegian, so quite similar. Sounds like a good solution, thanks! smile.gif

About the power supply, I plan to buy that. Either that Boss you mentioned or a MXR I`ve been looking at.

Just came across THIS DIY PEDAL BOARD whilst looking for something else and thought it might be of some use to you?

As for your Power Supply I'd suggest something like THIS.

I have a Warwick Gigboard RB 23100 which is not expensive and powers up to 5 pedals, comes with a padded bag and all cables.
It's not expensive, considering the prize that good quality power sources for 5 pedals go for, this one provides a nice surface plus carrying bag. Here's a pic of mine, so that you know how many pedals fit in there, more or less:

Here's an internet pick of the whole package:

Thanks for the DIY-guide Sensible, will study it more thoroughly later tonight with a good cup of coffee biggrin.gif

About the warwick board, I fear it will bit a tiny bit too small for me. I currently have a wah pedal, tuner and phaser. In addition, I will have some sort of delay, boost/overdrive, octave and volume + I`m pretty keen on the idea of building myself for the DIY - feeling/experience tongue.gif
Thanks anyways smile.gif

I'm building one myself. So far I'm looking at getting some sturdy wood of a good length, some velcro tape sounds like a good idea, and perhaps a T-rex fuel tank junior which powers 5 pedals for around $99, but there are other power supplies that power more pedals for reasonable prices too.

I`m most likely going to buy the Dunlop Power Supply. It can power up to seven 9V boxes and three 18V boxes simultaneously smile.gif Costs 99$ at ebay

I am going to buy a pedalboard with case soon...
Building your own board is fun but when it comes to gig-ing, there are only two things that matter: Portability and Durability!

I am getting something like this:

http://www.musik-schmidt.de/Warwick-RC-23010-A.html

The case is sturdy, it is easy to carry and it isn't too expensive...
And I will buy a Power supply that cuts all the static noise I get from bad power like the Voodoo Pedal Power 2 Plus.

I really recommend that you save yourself a hassle and get this:

behringer PB1000 pedalboard:

you have plenty of room here, and it will be lighter than anything that you can make. In the end of the gig/rehearsal, the weight will be very important to you. This one is sturdy enough, and all you have to get here is some good power adapter with integrated hum-filtering (can be bought/made in any better electronic shop). This one costs only 100$, and your home-made pedalboard will cost slightly less probably, not mentioning the time you've put into building one. I actually build myself pedalboard before, and don't wanna go through that again ever again, cause it isn't worth it. Here's the topic where I explained what I used for the built:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...ost&p=90151

I already filled my Boss BCB60 pedalboard, and seriously considering this one if I get some more pedals.

good luck mate.

This is exactly the approach I took, decide how many pedals you need and buy a flight case to suit, mine has an angeld board for better access and a dedicated power supply, without pedals the whole thing was less than a hundred pounds and it will last for years, its virtually indestructable!

Talk to this guy for power supplies, he will save you a bundle!

If you don't need a hardcase get this

http://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gptpro_peda...rd_with_bag.htm and some decent power tank. The Behringer is bad, it makes a lot off noise (bad shielding) the t-rex one is great

or this one that has a power supply for multible pedals. (i have this one)The power supply is ok its dead quiet with most of the pedals I tried.
