Can someone tell me the format used for uploading a video. For example if you record the sound on the computer software and run the video at the same time the sound obviously is saved as a 'WAV' file. When you import the video and sync them together on the computer what do you have to do then to upload it as it must be a fairly big file. If I've transferred a soundfile its always been mp3. Thanks Regards Tony We dont really have video uploads here, so You must create a YouTube account and link to it from here, if that was what You mean? //Staffay EDIT: The best format for uploading to YouTube will be FLASH-video (.flv or .f4v) imo. , since thats the native format of YouTube. You need to compress the file (if you don't like uploading big files). MP4 format with video bit rate of 2,000 is a pretty good choice.

If you use Sony Vegas like most of us (instructors) do, there is a preset called "Youtube" when you render your file. You just click that and don't need to worry about anything.

That's a good choice. When choosing File>Render As.. You will have an option to choose format. Choose AVC/AAC format (mp4 container), and click on Youtube preset. If you don't have one, in settings choose 2.000.000 fixed bitrate, 2 pass, resolution to your liking, and 44.1/48 sampling of the audio file. If you have interlacing problems, choose "progressive scan" option in video tab.

Thanks Ivan. A further query; Do you have to render it first or can you just click on the Youtube icon. Ive done a 'save as' project to a file but it just goes into a Sony folder and thats it. I'm oK with the workings of the program but can't get my head what to do with the finished file. Regards Tony When you save a project that's only the project with all your plugins and settings you've made, not the final video. You need to render to a separate file to have your final product. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Emir is right, you should render your output video. There is a rendering dialog in File>Render As...
