The iconic Abbey Road studios has been put up for sale by EMI and may no longer run as a recording and mastering studio see this report from the Beeb here.

Just as a quick addendum - I can also very quickly think of three major mastering studios that have closed in the last five years. At least one of which was sold because the owners decided they wanted the quick return on the real estate value of the property even though it was a successful business.

I'd heard rumours about that! It'll be a sad day if it does close for business!

Just imagine a GMC studio, where we can all publish our records...since we learn how to write and arrange songs here. I would absolutely donate for that! biggrin.gif

It would be too bad if they closed and shutdown the studio, they should turn it into museum or something.

heheh, yeah, mine too,

Wow, this is big, but I guess that's the way business affects everything in life, it's the natural process of our society, that doesn't necessarily means something is good or bad, it's just that so many things are associated with that studio

Yes - looks like EMI have changed their minds - or bowed to PR and don't want a lot of bad publicity - but they're now saying they want to keep Abbey Road going smile.gif
