I'd say a tuner and a delay are a must. Those two are used a lot and your amp doesn't provide them.
You can get distortion & reverb from your amp. You might need (or not) an extra distortion/OD stomp, but you better check how the amp sounds first. Once you have your distortion/delay/tuner the rest is a matter of preference, you might find you need a wah, or a chorus, or a flanger, or a compressor, or a... the list goes on forever. So just go step by step, get the basics, and after that time will tell -------------------- Guitars:

Pretty much have already been said on this topic, but personally I would have used the money to get a better amp instead... for Blues & Rock there is Fender Blues Deluxe as well as Fender Hotrod, Marshall also have some models as well as Blackheart. A good guitar & good amp is most crucial, the effects are just the cream of the cake. But if I was suppose to choose just two, it would have been a TS and a delay. I never found a practical use for a tuner, since it takes longer time to watch the display than tune the string by ear during a gig. I do use it for initial tuning, though... But this can be done with a tuning fork as well.

why would an amp like this not be good enough? http://dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/marshall_mg102fx.html for all the reasons everybody has told you in this and all the other threads! theres nothing wrong with them per-se, but you will be ultimately limited in what it can achieve, its a beginners amp with beginners features. |
