Nah, not necessary really... But it can be a part of Your sound if You use it to the extreme and filters to get some odd sounds. Otherwise it can be handy in small venues for instance, when running a 4*12 it gets boomy in small places, and then You filter out some bass. I haven't using it for years, but I had one in the old days....

i do like to use eq's i think it's a thing of personal taste, i love to use it on the solos for examples, i boost volume and the most important thing (at least for me) when u are playing a solo, mid freqs.
eq's can help you to really make your guitar cut tru the mix, but the thing is, try to cut instead of boost, a lot of times you just gotta cut -------------------- Check my Instructor Profile Rockers! Got a Blog too!, www.adriantracks.com Follow me on facebook and youtube! -Youtube |

EQ is good for adjusting the sound just right, and it can serve well in situations where amp's EQ is limited (like on tone knob for example).

I think EQ in the signal chain is a nice and useful add-on. You can then "sculpt" your overall tone more precisely to your needs (or venue/club/band needs).
