Let's list here music related documentaries that are worth checking out. I can recommend as my favorite one - The Beatles Anthology video documentary (there is a book too). Its a huge video I think its over 600 minutes long and on 5 dvds. If you haven't seen it, worth checking out!
http://www.amazon.com/Beatles-Anthology-Jo...n/dp/B00008GKEG

I have also watched two video biography documentaries on Paco De Lucia and James Brown that were really interesting.

Any music related titles you have for suggestion checking out regarding this topic ?

Metal: A Headbanger's Journey was pretty cool. Iron Maiden's biography is really awesome, Although they spread it out across several seperate DVD's, and of course, Iron Maiden (once again) Flight: 666 is simply amazing. And Iron Maiden (yet again laugh.gif ) book "Run To The Hills" is super cool, Very informative process as to exactly how the band worked for all those years, a true working mans band smile.gif

And Cannibal Corpse's "Centuries Of Torment" is one of the best biographies of a band I have seen, Although I dont know how many people will find interest in this.

Oh yeah, I have seen Flight 666 in the movie theater and it was one of best documentaries I watched for sure! smile.gif They are legends! I have seen many short documentaries on RHCP - it really gives a cool perspective on a band and you can see how big bands work behind the scenes...

"How music works", 4-part BBC documentary! Literally, what is harmony, melody, rhythm, sound. Each part covers different topic. What I like the most about this doc, is that it's not only about classical music, with equal importance author talks about Rap, Hip&Hop, jazz, metal, rock, latin..... The thing is that author is some major classical pianist and professor. Really fascinating. I watched it several times already! smile.gif

Yeah, movie called "Taraf de Haidouks", about world-famous world music project from Romania.
For anyone who is interested in world music fenomenon, this is fenomenal!

I watched this twice, and got out of it, I think, the same things you have. The history of the most popular (certainly) and I would argue the most creative band in modern times. It struck me in the video, how intelligent Paul clearly is. He describes things in the 3rd person, only really intelligent people do that. Nobody can argue that they were the most popular band, they can see videos of the stretchers they used to carry the girls out on who had fainted. But I don't think the creativity is arguable either. When you consider what had preceded the Beatles (other than a few exceptions, Black R&B, and Buddy Holly, a few more, painfully lame), and how the Beatles changed music, and the fact that for 5 years they changed themselves about every year, I don't see how you can argue that anyone since has so influenced and changed music, not even tail lights in the rear mirror.

So to me this is of interest, to try and understand this phenomena called "The Beatles".

for the Frusciante fans, a Dutch interviewer made a very nice reportation on him, it's on youtube with English subs:
can't find it with subs tongue.gif

but for you people who really want to see it without the subs, just check youtube and search for "Frusciante vpro" and you'll need the top video wink.gif The interviewer was kinda like their "house camera man" wink.gif

Actually fun story, the interviewer used them as a subject for a film about young urban bands, and he thought they had some potential, but then they got extremely famous, and he just kept filming tongue.gif

I haven't found free online version yet, check at video.google, or this major site for online video material, I can't remember its name, something like youtube, but with legal original content(movies, documentaries).
