GMC VIDEO CHAT LESSON #62 - Quadruple Picking! Let’s add “Quadruple Picking” technique to our back of licks/tricks. This is very simply, four pick strokes per note. This will help you with your ‘Inside and Outside Picking”, and your “Alternate Picking”. This lesson is all about PRECISION. Not so much about speed. As they say.... “Speed is a byproduct of precision”. Let’s warmup and get started. *Do our usual Finger Yoga and warmup your hand/arm. Avoid Carpal Tunnel Syndrome! GMC VIDEO CHAT LESSON #63 - Economic Picking In Context Let’s warmup and get started. * Do our usual Finger Yoga and warmup your hand/arm.* Let’s take a look at increasing our overall speed. We have spent a lot of time on Alternate Picking. Let’s spend a bit of time focused on “Economic Picking”. If you find your speed has hit a wall, workng your Economic Picking can help you break through the speed barrier. Let’s use a familiar shape and focus on using two down strokes in a row as we traverse to higher strings. Just to keep things challenging, let’s also work on our stretch a bit as we go. Let’s look at our first shape. Make sure to try to start with a downstroke, and then use another downstroke when moving to a higher string. This is the essence of "Economic Picking" using more than one stroke type in sequence. Eg. Two downstrokes. 63a *Here is the Guitar Pro 5 File for this shape.

LESSON 65 - Pushing Past The “Barrier”
We have been focusing on various techniques for the past few lessons and It seems high time we get back to a quick bit of shredding/back and forth/speed picking. The ideas here should be somewhat familiar at this point. Hopefully, we will be able to push our speed up a bit in this lesson as the shapes will hopefully be quick to master. Once we have them down, we will apply them a backing so that we can play them in context. First, let’s do our warmup, per usual. Then on to the Lesson! For each of these next three shapes/chops, learn the pattern and play it with a metronome to keep it steady. Once you have built up some speed and feel comfortable with the licks, start playing them with the backing track and turn off the metronome. Here is our backing track for today. Download it and give it a listen before starting on learning the shapes/chops.

VIDEO CHAT LESSON 66 - NEO CLASSICAL APPROACHES
We have been Working our speed up focusing on our right hand for several lessons now. Let’s shift a bit and focus on our left hand. We are still going to use our Synch approach, meaning or every pick stroke, a note is fretted. This will help our “Precision”. As has often been said, “Speed is a byproduct of precision”. Let’s look at our backing track. It’s composed of a variety of shapes and will require a decent finger stretch as well as dexterity of movement. Here is an MP3 Preview. Once you learn the following licks, play them with a metronome until you have them down, then play them with the backing. Go ahead and warm up doing our usual stretches and listen to backing.

GMC VIDEO CHAT LESSON #68 - Building A Solo
In this lesson, we are going to build a Guita Solo and play it against a backing. So essentially we are going to chain sets of licks/chops together in as musical a way as possible. Before we get in to it, let’s warm up a bit and get our fingers ready to rip! FINGER YOGA! Let’s do our usual Finger Yoga stretches. Here is a link to the video for references. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POvVMNdc6Tg PALM MUTED HAMMER ON’S Let’s do a bit o prep for our first lick by doing some “Palm Muted Hammer On’s” This type of lick just takes a little practice. Once you have it down, it comes in very handy for building a cool solo. The Palm muting creates a percussive sound and takes the place of the pick stroke. Here is our first tablature.  Now that we have the pattern down. Let’s play it with a metronome to make sure we can play it consistently and work up some speed and move it around the neck. Now let’s take that same idea nd turn it in to an actual lick that conforms to a scale structure. Our Backing track is in E Minor so let’s use an E Minor Shape. Take a look at the next piece of Tablature. Now let’s add a different type of lick in to our Solo. After a syncopated scale run type of lick, loosening things up with a Pedal Point, Open String Lick can often work quite well. Let’s do an open string “Pedal Point” style lick where the open string is our “Pedal Tone”. Take a look at the tablature. Once we have it, let’s play it on every string to give our hand some practice on it. Now, let’s string these licks together and play them as a solo against a backing. It was in the same key as this lesson. E Minor. Try to remember the licks we did. All of them will work with this backing. So now, let’s improvise. Take all the licks from this week, and the licks you remember from last week, and mix and match them against the backing. Play them in any order and cycle them as many times as you think it sounds right to do. GMC LESSON 69 - Building A Solo, Employing Previous Techniques
In this lesson, we are going to build a Guitar Solo and play it against a backing (The Backing is the Metal Collab recently initiated by Cosmin Lupu, here is my full solo take as a preview. Here is a link to the audio file of backing with solo for download and reference.
