Around about XMas our CD-Writer started to show signs that it was getting ready to go and join its friends in Plextor heaven so we had to get a backup/replacement. This is for Mastering and there are very few CDRs that can produce a full BLER and burn Red Book properly - AFAIK there are only some Plextor and one other make that can.

So start of February we asked our Spanish suppler if he could source us a new drive. 'Yes' he says 'I'll have it in a week for you'. Three weeks go by and nothing so I ring him, 'Sorry but we can't get the Plextor here in Spain. Do you want something else? I can get you a nice Blueray for that price.' No.

So start of March I find one pc suppler who have them in the UK and order it and pay for it on my credit card. It's in stock and 3 days delivery. 3 weeks go by and nothing but they've taken the money (not a lot about 90UKSterling). I ring them and they deny having received the order, produce order number and forward them their purchase confirmation. They claim it's not their number, I insist it is and suggest we go to the credit card for resolution. Hang up dry.gif .

One week later - start of April. They ring me back and agree the number is theirs but there was a problem with the warehouse and they've none in stock. I point out there website still says currently in stock and hang up. They ring me back next day - they now have had a stock delivery and will send it out in three days time. They actually took a week to send it but it arrived today rather surprisingly as they got the address wrong rolleyes.gif . Check the order and the delivery address is correct.

Sad thing is that they're the only place outside of Japan where you can get this CDR ohmy.gif .

You have luck that those things are kinda "Gettable" being there in europe. Trying to get one of those here is almost impossible.

laugh.gif Always when I've done business with UK suppliers they are always so polite. It's a bit difficult to imagine one that starts claiming it's not their ordernumber, spite the customer ensures it (he ought to know after all)... oh hey, how stupid I am, you're dealing with Basil at Fawlty Towers!!

What a strange story.... They are very unprofessional but the good thing is that you got the CD drive you needed in the end (and its very rare) smile.gif
