Next Amp!

Apr 12 2010, 04:18 PM	Learning Roadie Posts: 910 Joined: 5-October 09 From: Portugal	I played a MArshall dsl jcm 2000 (that i had in mind to buy ) few days ago .. I think it has that nice marshall sound .. but if i want some nice metal distortion it can´t get there,Well it can do iron maiden and stuff like that but i feel that it can´t get to the hi gain stuff .. now I´m thinkin of Randall 150 G3 this one seems to be able to get that nice hi gain metal distortion but is it versatille ?? .. or maybe A Peavy Valveking + MARSHALL 2x12 (1936) w/ small fottswitch for 550e or line 6 spider valve HD 100 w/ the line 6 matching cab (w/ celestion v 30 ) and and fbv express all for 1000 euro ?? Wich do you think would be better and more versatil ?? BTW: sorry for the off topic but is a Squire Vintage Modified Jazz Bass good to start learning ?? and would an Sm 58 (for vocals ) be able to mic an amp ??? (cause i found some new ones for 68 euros ) .. I Own a JCM2000 And I Have to say when you krank it, it can reach iron Maiden.. But For some more heavier you should get a Pedal.. I got along with the amp a Jackhammer to solve that problem for that far i need that much distortion.. Another thing is you should consider changing the speaker, because it sounds weak compared to what the amp is actually producing, So you should swap it, This is all i can tell you.. Don´t jump off a roof if someone offers you a spider someday doe .. but seriously I have been hearing good stuff bout this spider valve hd cause it was made in conjunction w/ bogner or somthing like that .. and i don´t really like using pedals I prefer to get my sound only from the amp ... Sure it's not a Modern High Gain Amp but it can handle anything related to 80s Metal with ease if you now how to set it up... Randall sounds thin and rough and it can pretty much ONLY do metal... The Bugera (actually a brand by the low quality company Behringer) is a fake of the peavey 6505 which is a legendary Metal amp (I switched to a Peavey 6505 head recently) The Bugera sounds almost exactly like a Peavey but the quality is not the best and they tend to break down fast. It's super versatile, awesome sounding, and you get the best leads ever Problem with the GH50L is that because it's a one channel amp, you can not switch to clean with the stomp of a foot. You have switcable gain, footswitchable. And you should learn how to adjust your sound with the volume knob of the guitar, not jumping up and down on a foot switch changing between channels when you want to go from clean to distorted. It's not ideal. If you work with the volume knob you'll notice how your sound will fit through the entire song. And you always have the Tony Iommi GH model head if you want more gain.
