I've got an Randall RG75G3, and I have to say it's metal... If you want to sound like Pantera, buy it! But I'm very happy with it 'cause I can get a nice blues tone as well (and ofcourse the Maiden sound) I think this amp sounds very good, it roars on high volumes, but on low volumes it sounds synthetic. Clean channel is very good, cold, but good. The amp is voiced towards metal, so the lack of mids is evident in the mix - it sounds a bit thin. Thanks for the suggestion mate .. I´ll check it out.. btw: can annybody else confirm that a tube screamer in front of the marshall dsl 2000 be enouth for metal ?? You will have enough of gain if that is what you mean, but the problem is keeping the low end tight. You really need to be careful if you want to achieve this. Hardly you will keep the bass tight if you introduce overdrive to already overdriven DSL, but you can tweak the sounds and see what works best. Also, be prepared to have noise issues, so noise gate is welcome there. Yeah I´m going for the Marshall and I´m gonna also order a pedal to give it that extra kick for metal .. do you guys think a tube screamer can do it ?? It depends on the speakers inside. Also you should definitely consider portability of the boxes. If you plan to carry them somewhere bare in mind that 412 takes two man to carry, while 212 can pass with one man. Also, 212 fits easier in the car. In general, Marshall cabs are voiced towards Marshall heads, so that's a safe bet IMO. I wouldn't buy Framus cab unless I tried it and like it. I have my Marshall MKII into a Marshall 1960 (300w) and it's a monster of power. The 8 strings axe sounds so agressive!
