Just wanna share the things happened this last friday.
I have booked a gig just some week in advance and my bass player & drummer were occupied touring with other bands. So most of the week I had to call all the people I know to get some people to fill in for them. That was not an easy task, so when thursday night came I still dont have any musicians. But then I got this faboulous idea - the joint where I was supposed to play on has a blues jam evry thursday, so I simply went there and asked the drummer in the band if he was available. He was, and the drummer was fixed. Then me and the drummer spent the whole friday to find a bass-player, which was impossible, so I asked my ex-girlfriends new man if he could do the bass. (he is a guitar-player, not very skilled though) Of course we didnt have any time for rehearsing, so we just got there and played. It started off pretty bad, since the first thing that happens was that the dish-washer(!) told us that we where too loud since there was a couple of old people dining about 5 meters from us. After we lowered the volume everything went just great, and we played some ballads and slow blues numbers, and the old lady was very grateful when they left. The rest of the night really rocked, we did all those old Santana, Zeppelin, Clapton, Hendrix songs mixed with blues standards and some of my own songs. Besides that there was some wrong notes on the bass occasionally and we missed some endings, the night was a succes and we got great kudos from the audience. I just enjoyed every minute of it, playing live with real musicians for the first time in nearly 15 years!!! What a night!!! //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. Awesome Staffy, sounds like you finally had a great time, glad to hear it Shoot a vid next time! Well, I thought bout it this time as well, but I could'nt find a decent person to hold the camera, since ell people except me was more or less pissed..... //Staffay Thats true rock n roll staffy mate! Just getting up there and playing is what its all about to me, who cares if you make some mistakes, its not like were playing Wembley stadium anytime soon is it!! Audiences respond to good vibes and good musi and you got both of them in spades mate! Right! Unless You perform for some critical superstars at NAMM, who gives a damn if there are some wrong notes? It was kinda the point with this thread - to encourage some people here to hit the stage and deliver some positive energy. Thats what it all about !!! //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. Wow congrats Staffy! You pulled it off great, not many could find a band in-a-day and perform with that quality you mentioned (small mistakes etc)....

This kind of gig was always the most fun, even when it's more spur of the moment than your arrangement. Glad you had the opportunity to play with real live people again, too. Can't wait to see and hear more of the same.
