Hi Staffay!

With huge delay, here are the assignments for May. You will have a full month to complete them. If you can do them before that, fantastic, if not do your best to complete them all one month from now.
Here are the assignments!

Assignment 1:

- Pick a Jazz standard of your choice and record yourself playing melody one chorus followed by one chorus of solo.
- Tempo is your choice and you can also choose to record background music anyway you want it or even use already existing backing tracks (Aebersold or Band in a Box for example).
- Try to do everything in original key as it was written in the real book!
- Some suggestions for easy to intermediate Jazz standards : Blue Bossa, Blue Monk, Straight no chaser, All the things you are, Autumn Leaves, All of me, Take the a train etc
- Submit audio of your work but video with audio is also very welcome for this assignment.

Assignment 2:

Michael Brecker's 2 choruses on "Suspone"

- Record a video of yourself playing 2 choruses over "Suspone"
- Do your best to play it at least 65% or up from original speed!
- Submit your recording in this thread.

- Record and upload Triads in song lesson found here
- Post your recording in the thread here and use backing track provided!

Hi Pedja, as I'm completely stunned by the duo playing between Goodrick/Metheny I used my Loop-Station to make a take on "How Insensitive".
However, I need some tips on improving/practice double-time, since I think I'm doing something wrong in my double-time playing and can't figure out what it is.... (other than the timing has to be better of course, it can always be improved) What I really need is some comments from You to improve this piece before I record a vid take.

Cheers!

Sounds great Staffay!
I suggest breaking out double time soloing with some motives or repetition with sequence. Another thing that you can do is brake out rhythm phrases like Michael Brecker. Last but not least, try applying different techniques in different parts of double time solo (arpeggios, tensions, pentatonics, approach patterns, outside soloing, repeated note ideas, motive development etc).
Hope that helps man. Look forward to your May's work!

Pedja
