Chandra here is your 2nd assignment !

2nd assignment
Compose chord progression, make backing track using material from Triad lessons

- Compose chord progression using closed and open triads.
- Key of your choice, you could also modulate in the piece (not restricted to one specific key)
- Tempo of your choice!
- Backing track should contain at least bass guitar and rhythm/harmony guitar part. Drums would be great but its optional!
- Submit your assignment in this thread via MP3 file and write out your chord progression (possibly in guitar pro)

Deadline for your 2nd assignment is 19th of June.

Let me know if you got any questions!

Pedja

Great.. I have already composed the progression.. but was struggling to start laying out drum tracks.. I suck at it. Bass is worst. smile.gif I will try though. I am just sticking to key of G for now as I was to implement this first. So many chord positions to remember, finding it hard to remember.. haha. smile.gif

Hi Chandra,

Thanks a lot my friend. It was huge celebration yesterday at my place and also in the whole world. Serbia has a lot of population living abroad in countries like Germany, Austria, USA, Canada etc, so Serbian people in those countries celebrated as well. Massive celebration and great time overall smile.gif Now we will watch Gana vs Australia at 4pm and cheer for Australia to get a point or win. That way we go trough just by wining against Australia smile.gif

Anyways man, this was great work! I like what you did with voicings and cadences are there as well. Regarding bass line, you could just record root of the chord and let it stay for whole duration of chord. If you don't have bass guitar, doesn't matter. Type bass part in Guitar pro, export it as midi , import it into your DAW and assign some sort of Bass VST to play it. If you know how to work with midi in your DAW this might be even easier (open midi track and type in notes right there then assign the VST instrument to play it).
Overall this was pretty cool man. For extra work (for yourself) try to add the bass line (simple, just roots for starters) to enrich everything.

Expect your remaining assignments later today!

Pedja

Thanks Pedja. I do have a Serbian friend who works here and we play football every Sunday. smile.gif

Anyway, the DAW and Guitar Pro is not so easy for me. smile.gif I will record the bass line using some low octave plugin from the guitar itself I guess.

Will post soon.

Great. I will work on them.

Questions:

1. What do you mean by compose melody and improvise? Are these like 2 things or 1? From what I understand, composing is spending quite sometime and working on what works best. Improvisation is you play the track and whatever comes to you, you just play.

2. For the 4 part harmony, the tabs are for Part 2 so can you please post the tabs for Part 1 here?

Thanks,
Chandra

haha... Pedja. smile.gif

Okay, here is what I have come up with. I am still not yet ready to try out on the fly improvisation. This piece just has so many chords going on which makes it complicated. smile.gif

Thanks!
