Hi
Not sure if this is the right way to go about things...I'm a newbee! Genesis, 2nd Home By The Sea https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3qYMTC5aSo...feature=related at around 4.45, Mike Rutherford starts a little chop up the fret board which lasts for around 17 seconds and although I think I've pretty well managed most of the song, this part has eluded me for months. Could any of you out there offer any assistance. Much appreciated Woody |

it's kind of hard to understand, it sounds like a funky riff, he certainly uses that technique

Well, in that one he's playing major scale riff between BMaj and EMaj and then AMaj and CMaj. You can do this with chord shapes E shape for B, A shape for E, E shape for A, and G shape for C. He may be using slightly different fingerings for the chords, but this is the riff as I hear it... I might be wrong though..
Here's an audio sample...my piezo battery is dying and there is no modeling, but maybe you get the idea. Genesis_Riff.mp3 ( 288.49K ) Number of downloads: 181 -------------------- Still looking for my soul mate, guitar. |

It's probably the same chords, just inverted in different ways. Cheers Woody |
