Great Pedja.. This is what I am missing. As you know I haven't been able to watch any of your video chats properly. Sorry about that. I just wish I had access to better internet connection. It would be great if you can record a small example with all those time feels, perhaps next time you do a chat session?

Thanks,
Chandra

Hey Pedja,

Here is my first try. Just grabbed the jazzy drum loop (Addictive drums) and G/D7/C/G chord progression and then started jamming.. just a simple G major scale for a start. The first 2 bars/lines came after few jams but after that all were only one take. Bass done in one take.. lol.

Glad I am getting started but as you notice, its not that clean and sorry for the bad recording.. Its a quickie you know.. biggrin.gif

I need a lot more practice on this...

Thanks,
Chandra

Oh Yep, the video was very helpful indeed. I need to print these feels in my mind so it comes to the fingers easily. smile.gif

Thanks a bunch for the video.

Sounds great ! Exactly what I was looking from you. I heard more than half time in the whole take - there was regular time feel and some time a bit of double time. We said 1 time feel for each assignment smile.gif
I will accept this take as half time feel . Do the next one similar and it will be regular time feel! For double time feel you have to do more of active and fast rhythms only!

Good work Chandra!

Yeah I could hear that smile.gif But thats the beauty of assignment, one thing at the time approach.
You don't have to solo for 2-3 minutes, 16-32 bars is enough. My recommendation is the more you do it the better cause it makes you focus on specific things and then they start coming out in your playing!

Hey Pedja,

I was just scrolling around and I guess I will do these for RECs this month.

Probably both.

Thanks,
Chandra

Hey Pedja,

Didn't do much this week.. all busy busy schedule, more work. sad.gif

Anyway, I just got some time and try your lesson. It was a quicky and the last bit could be better. I haven't done much tapping stuff so was kind of hard. smile.gif

and here is the REC thread.

Thanks,
Chandra

Hi Chandra,

Rhythmically you did good with the lesson but tuning/intonation problem is still there. You can hear it in the very beginning of the lesson when you are doing bends. They sound off and thats because you are doing either 1) not bending correctly (which I doubt!) 2) guitar is off tune (which I am positive)
So thats my take on your take smile.gif I would great this one heard because of tuning, probably would barely pass it or not at all! I recommend doing another take, make sure that your guitar is in tune with the actual backing track 100% and then record the video.
Its shame really because this was great take but tuning problem took a lot and I mean a lot out of it!

hmm.. isn't this in standard tuning? I actually changed strings, fixed intonations and tuned before recording. smile.gif

Perhaps this guitar is just too old... 3rd string seems to be giving problems esp..

If you did all that Chandra then its bending problem but it could also be guitar problem like you mentioned. Try recording it with a different guitar if possible.

I worked on the intonations again but I don't know the open strings and the 12th frets are tuning almost accurately. Sometimes it seems to be in tune sometimes it seems to be fluctuating. Perhaps the string action is a bit low. I will raise and see.. but even with the strings in tune hitting open A chord doesn't seems to be in tune.. arg, I have been spending so much time trying to fix.. not sure when this came up. I think the 2nd and 3rd strings are major problem. Others seem to sound fine.

Anyway, I will try another take and perhaps another guitar (LP which also might have intonations issue). I haven't played that guitar much. smile.gif
