Instead of creating another topic of "amp tips", I wrote myself down some criterias and found out that there are no amps which suits me right now, since my Peavey classic actually sounds pretty good for the time being. The only thing bothering me is a very loud hum which becomes a pain in the ass when mic`ing it up for a gig. So I think I have solved the problem by buying an ext. cab, since the hum is only from the amp`s cab smile.gif

Long story short, tomorrow a 1x12 Mesa Rectifier cabinet will be heading my way! I will post pics ASAP when I have it in my room smile.gif

Apparantly there is tongue.gif

Currently I have a Blue Marvel speaker which is aimed for more blues/vintage rock. So since I play a lot of hard rock, I can`t wait to hear the difference with the rectocab! Maybe I`ll just disconnect the amps speaker smile.gif

Mesa cabs are awesome, wether it's live or studio work... I just dislike that Mesa is selling their products as boutique stuff in Europe!!!

Mesa amps are great but they are not worth the prices you have to play outside of the US - for example a triple rectifier costs 1900$ in the USA and 2300 Euros in Germany which would be ~3000 Dollars!!! More expensive than handmade Diezel or Bogner amps!!

I know, their prices are insane! Just this cab would cost (with VAT) around 720€ in Norway!....luckily I got it used for 240$ :-)

240$ is a good price. Just think about it, you could get a fullblown, new Marshall 4x12 cab with 4 times the same speaker as in the mesa 1x12 for 720 Euros^^

I know, but I was specifically looking for a 112 cab, making my "rig" a 212. Since I`m attending a music school next year, there will be a lot of moving, so I don`t want a 412 smile.gif

Congratulations man, the cab looks very good. I guess you are planning to use only the Mesa cab without using the internal speaker of Classic? If so, I think it would be a good idea to try to use both for bigger sound on gigs (not that it is necessary, but it's definitely important to have bigger sound, and two vertical 12" speakers/cabs can indeed create better air movement).

Regarding the Mesa cab, it seems that you've found a very good price for it, which is great. That cab is IMO not worth the money in EU. As Zakk said, I would rather get a very good 212 or even 412 with good speakers then this, but for 240$ it's an awesome deal.
