http://ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1115739p1.html

Just an article I read. Now they have a guitar with 100 buttons to try and fully replicate a guitar. This is still short about 44 needed buttons for full replication (6 strings * 24 frets = 144), But I still feel insulted for some reason.

Two things came to my mind.

1) Now it is truly official, if you bother learning any song on "pro" mode you are just better off learning the instrument itself, Before it could be said that since it just had 6 or so buttons (whatever it was) it was just for fun and pure entertainment, which is fine. But with this - I dont know, It sort of insults me for some reason, Not sure why. It seems like a waste for a person to pour so much time to learn this guitar, when all you can do is play other peoples song.

2) I think its dumb laugh.gif

Anyway, just blabbing on and on, anyone got any thoughts?

It could motivate someone really hard to play the actual thing

If so then excellent. But the "guitar hero" and "rock band" fanatics down here and in some other forums I am on have actually referred to playing those games as a musicianship of sort.

i think is very cool man, not sure about the 100 buttons, maybe that's too geek even for me, BUT, rock band and guitar hero are opening the doors for good music specially for young kids.

i think it is 62506651065140 times better a kid playing guitar hero and listening to the beatles or green day than a kid playing whatever other thing and listening to justin bieber or whatever is popular now smile.gif

I agree 110% cool.gif

Guitar hero/Rock Band are actually great fun games. as with everything in life there might be some "hardcore" GH gamers who think it's better to practice 5 hours a day of GH instead of real guitar, worst for them!

I played GH 1, 2 and 3 a LOT. As much as I enjoyed those games I reached a point where I needed to pour too many hours to complete the games on expert and decided to spend that time playing the real thing instead, and not 5 colored buttons wink.gif

I can't remember where i found a banner for a new "GH" alike game, but the controller was a real electric guitar! Iit could actually be plugged to any amp and be played with strings and all. I didn't look too deep into the matter, but it certainly was astonishing.

It's a game. As long as anyone find it fun, the achievment has been reached. Most people play guitar for fun, most people who play GH or RB plays it for fun. No problem for me smile.gif

I feel slightly insulted too. I think it's because their taking the guitar, which I practice and can't live without, and turning it into a game about getting the most notes on the right pitch instead of creating music. In one way I think it's great to get people to learn to play and love the instrument but it's made me humiliated to play an instrument that's now about a challenge then playing making music with an instrument. Maybe I'm just thinking too much of it! tongue.gif
