Who Do You Aspire To Play Like?

Hey GMC,

I've been thinking about this recently, and it seems to me that I tend to progress a little more quickly when I focus on one style of playing, or even one person's style of playing. For a while now, John Mayer has been who I've been wanting to play like the most, but recently I've changed to another guitarist's style.

Who do you aspire to be able to play like?

Wow, very interesting but hard question, Bear ! smile.gif

I must admit, the sheer melodic brilliance of people like Joe Satriani and Marty Friedman make me want to improve my melodic vocabulary !

Lots of great guitarists listed here! I've wanted to play like a number of them myself!

Recently though, I've been studying Lincoln Brewster's style. He's got quite a unique feel to his playing and I really like it!

Check out this song (especially the insane intro!)

Although I WOULD like to be able to shred like Malmsteen, or play like ANY of the three Iron Maiden guitarists at the moment I would choose David Gilmour - hands down!
PS. And if that one is not available anymore I would be content with the skills of Joe Bonamassa as well! wink.gif

I guess guitarists like Jeff Beck, Marcus Lavendell and Dimebag Darrel are who I admire the most... ad for the acoustic stuff, Andy McKee and Petteri Sariola know how to do it. smile.gif
