Over time the guitar has been forced to do many things. ph34r.gif First check out Adrian's new lesson, "Crying Guitar - Lead For Beginners", and then post a reply to todays question. Who's the king at making his guitar cry?

Why, Mr. Lavendell, of course! biggrin.gif His Vibrato 2 lesson definitely shows one way of doing it. Also Dimebag Darrell and Zakk Wylde make the guitar scream out loud with their crazy pinch harmonics combined with the whammy bar. Of course there are many ways of doing it and lots of players play with emotion: Shawn Lane, Yngwie, Andy Timmons...

Awesome lesson, by the way. smile.gif

I've always considered Mike McCready from Pearl Jam to be excellent at making his guitar cry.....

(Solo starts at about the 4:30 spot)

Wow, I hadn't heard of this guy before, Bear! Great stuff! smile.gif

Also when talking about blues, SRV sure knew how to do his thing... it's one way to make guitar weep, even though this song is just straightforward rock and blues. Voodoo child live, especially the solo is great even though the video lasts only half of the song.

I agree! Sometimes it seemed that SRV would strangle his guitar neck (in a wonderful way, though, of course!)

I think my guitar cries every time I play bad biggrin.gif Just kidding.
The first guitar player which came on mind when I read the question was Garry Moore, I also very like Santana's "Europe". happy.gif

But we're talking about making the guitar cry, not making it bring messages from God... laugh.gif

Yeah, Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner" solo was definitely a wailing guitar!

chopin wrote this when the invading armies conquered the town in which his parents lived
he did not know if they lived or were killed
if you close your eyes, well if I close my eyes and listen- the piano is heaving and weeping
