I was wondering, what's the best concert you have ever been to, and what made it the best?

Mmm.. maybe for me it was the Monster of Rock festival, 1998 edition, here in Turin.
What made it the best? I saw for the first time and on the same day Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Deep Purple and other cool bands.

Mad, if your wife reads it, it's absolutely the right order! smile.gif

For me it was either Green Day in San Diego 2009 or Blind Guardian in Düsseldorf last october...I just can't decide! Both bands are amazing live and really made a great connection with the audience.

Iron Maiden on the somewhere back in time tour. I had great "seats" and the set list was awesome. So it was a very good concert! smile.gif

Hmm, great question !

It's between:

Iron Maiden - Newport Centre in '98 or Earl's Court, London in 2000.
Megadeth - Birmingham Academy on the Blackmail The Universe tour after they just released 'The System..' 2004-ish.
Rammstein - Birmingham NEC, somewhere around 2005.

I saw Michael Franti two years ago. They're kind of a rock/ reggae band with high energy. I went and saw them at a tiny venue with a couple of friends. There was about 75 other people there. This was a huge difference compared to the time I saw them 6 months later with 10,000 other people. Well, besides the fact that the show was tiny, the band was non-stop from beginning to end for 3 hours. It was awesome. It wasn't about dramatic intro's or super long solos, it was pure entertainment. After the show, the band came down into the crowd and took questions and photos. I have to say, after that show, other concerts have been great, but nothing lives up to it.
