Hi Thomas!
Nice to hear from you
The idea of repeating is in developing muscle memory. These numbers work differently with everyone regarding their ability to focus. You should seek out the best possible way of practicing for yourself.
Now to give you an answer: what I'd do is to repeat the first position 500 times, and if I have more time I'd practice the second. When I get to the 20th day, I'd play the first position less-and-less and go on to the followings.
If you practice the first position, you should feel that the rest of the positions are more and more easier to play.
A few more technical hints:
*Always hold your guitar's neck with a loose wrist. Position your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger at the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th fret on your low E string loosely, this is the basic technique. Then you can move on.
*Try to move your fingers as less as possible. This is the economy of motion. The less you move the faster you'll be. What I mean by this is to try and don't raise your fingers above the neck more that 2 cm-s.
*Memorise the finger positions rather than the neck positions, so you'll be able to play all the modes of all the keys on your neck.
Cheers
Hi;)
Oh, this is excellent hints!
Lucky for me its the way I position my fingers already
And I try to not raise my fingers to high..so far so good!
I will do as u suggest and play first position for atleast 30-45 minutes. But it will then take like 140 days to get just one scale:)
But I think its worth it cause its at the same time both major and minor scales I will master, yes?
If I learn major then its minor 3 frets lower? So yes, its definately worth the effort! And then practice it all in improvising..hmm..
Thx a lot Zsolt! Much appreciated:)
I'll come back and let u know progress later on!
