Your First Amplifier?

Feb 13 2011, 06:23 AM	Beginner Instructor Posts: 472 Joined: 11-April 07	I've been thinking a lot about amps lately and I was thinking about how far I've come from my first amp to my current amp. My first amp was a Fender Bullet series.....something along the lines of this: My current amps are a Fender Blues Jr NOS, and a 1972 Fender Silverface Vibrolux Reverb. I think it was one of the last budget practice amps to be built in the US. Its got a terrible speaker in it, it farts out after turning it up less then a fifth of the way up. It pails in comparison to my current weapon of mass destruction, the Peavey Ultra Plus matched with a Marshall JCM 800 1960a cab. Great amp, I also had a footswitch to change between clean and distorted channel. This was the time when I first got serious about the guitar and played along to many of my favourite records...I still remember a little scene: One of my friends came over, I was playing along to Metallica's S&M album, he asked my mom if I was home and she said: Martin, we all can hear he is home... lol I sold it a couple of years ago and got a Vox AD50VT with integrated effects and amp simulator...never regretted it. I checked the unit but it really didn't have any brand on it. Owned it for several years, but never really played the amp...I used to play my squier tele unplugged, because of the horrible sound on that thing. It took a long time but don't be too impressed. It was similar to a "paint-by-numbers" kit. I still have it & it works fine except the actual spring reverb no longer works.
