Hi, this is a cool video. Love your guitar too cool.gif

I always thought this was a fantastic solo by Hetfield.. considering he's not a lead player he has a brilliant ear for melody.

I thought you did pretty well... there's just a few places that need tightening up a bit, but that's all a case of practice. The pull off from the bend at 0:20 ( I think I got that right) could be more fluid and relaxed. Try and slow the lick down and let your left hand cleanly play the bend and pull off.

Also, a future thing to look at will be vibrato, to give you a more controlled and soulful sound. However, it seems you're learning this solo just fine, you're not doing anything 'wrong' and it's just a case of more practice I think. As they say, perfect practice makes perfect.. so slow things down and practice perfect repetition of the licks.. that way you don't practice your mistakes and youre only training your brain and fingers the correct movements. smile.gif

Hey, that's a very nicely played solo! smile.gif

What I would advise is that you work more on your bending and vibrato. There is some problem with pitch of the bend, and those notes should be vibrated more widely.

Cheers for the tips Ivan smile.gif

I think i've figured out why it sounds wrong at 20 seconds - i dont think i was holding a specific note long enough. I'm now working on my bends and vibrato - its sounding better already smile.gif

* The first bend needs to be a tad higher at 0:02

* The vibrato could use some work, practice it individually. Definately need it to be wider, like Ivan said.

* The bend at 0:09 also needs to be a tad higher.

* The section around 0:20 needs to be played faster, it's the timing, not the notes played.

--

All in all, you're getting there. I liked the section around 0:07!

Work on getting your bends up to the right note, and make the vibrato wider. Have a listen to the track a few more times to solve that timing issue around 0:20.

Keep us updated!

By the way, there's a specific subforum for uploads in the second section, check it out. smile.gif

Good job learning this fantastic solo man. smile.gif I also think it could be played tighter, to get the feel right. Smash those first couple of bends with the pick with a strong, solid attack and try to put some good vibrato in there. Now that you've got the notes right, try to get the feel, too. Improvise with the solo, play some licks a bit differently, and listen to the original. I think you have plenty of technique for this one, you just need the confidence and attitude to play it in a rock / metal way. Don't be shy when banging away your guitar, you can't break it unless you really abuse it and you can't really make it scream unless you do abuse it a little. biggrin.gif That's the way I would approach.

Great take man!

I remember when I started to learn this solo all by ear smile.gif It was one of the first few that I've learned!

What I'd do is try to build up some nice vibratos so this would be a perfect take smile.gif
