Do you ever try taking riffs from one style and using them in another to see what they would sound like? Which have and haven't been so successful?

yeah I also do this and the result is frequently original. You can creat fresh music fusing riffs and even more fusing music styles.

Cool guys - I think this is the key to evolvement of music in general. This is where the new genres and cool bands come from!
