We all know that delays are something that is pretty cool to use when adding space, and they are often better choice over a reverb, because they create space effect without muddying up the sound, specially in band situation.

I had several delays throughout the years: Boss DD3, Boss DD20, EHX Memory Man with Hazarai, and now I'm currently using Malekko Echo 300B and Nova System delays.

In between all of those, I've found that simplicity and nice sound is most important. Boss DD3 was simple and cool, Boss DD20 had awesome loop option, EHXMMH was not that great, Malekko is great for some slap back stuff, and TC Electronic excellent for anything.

So, what delay do you prefer to use and why? smile.gif

I use a line6 M13 - has a very good versatility - in fact delays are probably the pedals strongest side as it has all the classic line6 stuff.

Ivan biggrin.gif I am currently searching for a new delay (I have the Line 6 echo park which is far from being useful on stage..) I heard that the TC Electronics Nova Delay and the Eventide Time Factor are 2 very worthy choices.

I wanted to ask you how dependable is the Nova Delay on stage? I am obsessed by the fear that pedals might fail me while performing live. How easy to use is it in general? I hate parameters, I love playing the guitar - I need user friendliness

thanks a lot mate!!

Cosmin

I don't think you will make a mistake by choosing any of these pedals, they are proven companies with good credibility.
I use Nova System processor, it's summary of effects from TC Electronics, I don't use Nova Delay pedal. These two devices share the same effects, but Nova Delay has couple of more additional options for tweaking.

If you need lots of delay options, then these two pedals may be the right choice. However, I agree with you that playing the guitar is what counts in the end, and the simpler the effect is for adjusting, the better. I've found the Boss DD3 work best in that area, it's a simple and effective pedal, and it does the job. I'm very sorry I sold that little fella, but "my eyes were hungry" smile.gif

Only reason why I think Nova Delay or TimeFactor are better is because they have tap tempo option, which is a nice option to have for a whole set of different songs. For studio use, there is software or more serious devices, for home use, there is software again, so sound quality don't matter that much IMO. For live use, any delay effect is okay, even DD3, audience never hears the difference anyway, and it puts less costs on a working musician.

I always wanted to get a delay pedal for my setup. It a bit unorthodox effect to be used on bass but I heard MXR Carbon copy works great. I also heard that it is a bit cold and darker sounding pedal so that may be why it works for bass nicely?
I'll see if I get a chance to test one in the store smile.gif

I would like to be able to get another one to hook up to my new Screamer Overdrive. My only delay is in my BOSS ME-20, and the delay only goes to like 700 ms. That stinks in some situations. I want to be able to give more time in between the delays. I do use POD Farm 2 and it provides the digital and analog delay, and that is really cool - especially for recording. But I want a physical delay pedal. Right now I don't know what I want. I never thought I'd like stompboxes. biggrin.gif

I had the same delay pedal for, how many years now, 15-20? An Ibanez DE 7, has both delay and echo, it's pink, and sounds awesome. Never thought I could trade up, it's a keeper.
