We started working on a 6 track demo for our band beginning of last week, we decided to use my workplace which is out in the middle of no where so no disturbances with the added bonus of we can spread out and make as much noise as we like as its all industrial units around here.

Drums all completed and a bass track laid down the other guitarist in the band and myself decided Friday night we`d come down here and set up the amps, mic them up and record our tracks for the demo.

all going brilliantly when we could here some banging and whooshing type noises coming from the warehouse, I thought someone was trying to break in at first until I looked out of the window and to my horror the unit just to the back of us (which is a waste oil site) was full on blowing up! a proper fire! although not really posing a risk as in spreading to my yard (which happens to be a fuel depot!) as people on the ground with 200 ltr barrels exploding a couple of hundred yards away (which is what the banging and whooshing was) it wasnt the safest place to be!!

We decided to down tools leave the gear and head to the hills! all pretty scary at the time!

the mad thing was, why did we at least not grab our guitars!?? that was my custom I`d just left behind there huh.gif still, I was able to get back in here again on the Saturday morning and thankfully everything was as we left it.. pheww!

Man, that sounds really scary sad.gif well, 2 years ago, the building in which my mom works burned down (21 floors) and you could see the fire from my home...That was pretty alarming - the good part is that it was friday evening and nobody was in there.

in the calm light of day that depot is about 100yds away from here, the chances of a fire (even one as big as that was) getting us is pretty slim, but with 45 gallon drums exploding and flying around the place I really didnt fancy taking any chances, even a couple of Fire engines that turned up initially, retreated further away than we were at that time blink.gif

I felt terrible leaving my guitar behind, but its safe n sound back home now and we`ve made up since wink.gif

Oh maaan, that's a story to remember! I frequently wondered what would happen in such situation, and would I bring my guitar. Probably not the first thing that crosses your mind in such situations smile.gif
