Is it important to have good relationships within a band? Perhaps some of your experiences, or your thoughts on the subject? Let's discuss! smile.gif

Great question smile.gif I'd say yes. A band is almost like a family, if your having "Family Trouble" the whole thing gets really hard. I've been in several bands where there would be one persons I didn't click with. Often times, it would be the second guitar player, believe it or not. As an instructor, it's a real challenge for me not to try to help/encourage/instruct even when I should turn that off such as when in a band situation. The other player can feel like you are stepping on his toes, and the reactions are not positive. Also, if you play in a band where one or more players are less than confident/thrilled with their own playing, it's like a raw nerve you have to learn to avoid.

longvity, is what I think, the most important thing in making a profit as a band
it is highly likely that someone at every show will like your music ,but to get someone to come to another show, becomes less likely
but lets say 1 person will come to the next show
so now it is a numbers game, and with that my point

the longer together, the better chance to build a following--

lets see gabe, how long has ----cisre been around
how many at your first show and how many now?
and yes this is assuming that the more shows you do as well

It's important to find good people, primarily, and even more important is tolerance! It's hard to find co-workers who have the same taste, same thinking, similar work habits... So before I start to build on the band, always insist on talking about various topics, just to see the way how they look at things ! Everything after that is much easier..

After playing with several cover bands during my high school years, i have come to the conclusion that at most times, in my case, good friends doesn't mean good band members. I have played with close friends who end up not co-operating with band members and they are usually the other guitar player or the drummer. The bassist is always the cool cat biggrin.gif

But when i play with another musician that i barely knew, we can work together in the studio easily although we are not close outside the studio happy.gif The thing i hate the most is when the rhythm guitar player tries to "take over" the lead guitarist's role in the band during a session or rehearsal. I mean i don't mind backing off a little bit, but at least try to communicate instead of just giving the cold shoulder laugh.gif
