Hello everyone , I´m Nahuel (el fortinero) from Argentina. I am new at GMC. I will try to introduce myself: I´ve been playing the guitar for 13 years (i am 27 now) I learned to play, u know, by using my ears, questioning other guitar players, etc (there was no internet when i was a teenager). but never studied. And so I found myself in a place where i can really move fast my fingers but i had no idea what i was playing. I could armonize phrases by using my ears but had no idea about scales and all that stuff. I was also taught the minor armonic in an A position but it was imposible to me to remember all that notes! (i was also a bit lazy unsure.gif ). so I was / felt very limited. then, 3 years ago I went to a teacher and he taugh me the more basic theory. because of that, I started to connect and analise all that i knew and a new world appeared.

Actually I had recorded 3 albums, the last one is from my actual metal/rock band called "Groover" you can hear us in www.purevolume.com/groover and soon in www.groovermetal.com.ar ( it's in spanish.. sorry) I also sing in this cd.

I have 4 electric guitars:
*Epiphone les paul
*Fender squier (my first one) with di marzio factrak pick ups and a Lan Sensori in the neck
*Yamaha rgx 612s
*Nt warlock (made by my luthier) with EMG 81 - 85 pickups

* a spanish guitar and a Fender squier acoustic guitar.

You know i'am left handed so it is difficult (at least here in Buenos Aires) to find a good left- guitar. They are expensive. They have to bring it from USA and it costs, for example, a standard Gibson Les Paul 1500 USD !
If you are right handed is easier (and cheaper!)

My amp is a "vintage Electric" nu twin model, it's a replica (cheaper!!) from the messa booggie rectifier.

Searching something to play in the net i found GMC. I saw the ballad solo from Emir Hot and that destroyed my mind.
something funny that happened to me is that I used to think that i was a very good guitar player and knew a lot but when i saw his video I realised that there are lots of thing to learn (not because of the speed or technique but in the way he constructed that solo, i hope you understand what i mean) EMIR U ROCK!!
And so here I am, a bit afraid of using my credit card in the net smile.gif , but really happy to learn new stuff and to meet people that love musiC as much as I do.
here some photos:

Dark new days is new for me, i'll search more info about them. thanks!

About singing techniques is quite difficult to explain, imagine that i am still trying to understand it in my mother tongue (spanish) but I will try to explain to you, lets see:

We try to make our voice to go up to the head were the head resonators (??) are. The "treble" in your voice is in your nose, so if your voice is to "dark" you need to light it by using your nose, one cool way to do it is to block your nose, so the sound will stay there, in your head. You can pretend that you are having a cold (imagine you are axel rose). this is a way to start, off course no one wants to sing so nasal, it won´t sound cool.
My vocal coach (ivan sencion) has a technique that also mix the head voice with the falsetto, is called "passaggio" and this is the key to everything. It is a very difficult technique but once you master it you can do watever you want with your voice. All the great singers uses it because you can reach any note with just a little effort. Again, is a very hard technique to achive. You need many years of trainning and practice.

I used to sing by breaking my voice with my troat, the feeling i get was as if someone was hanging me, it was ok, but after 13 songs I was near voiceless (because i mixed high pich notes with gutural!) The distortion with the voice in high pitch must be done with your nose, never use your throat, never push from your diagfram!

Now I am trying to sing with the passaggio but it's really really hard because my body is use to sing in the wrong way.

what are you interested in? as regard singing

did it help what i wrote?

Apologyse for my english, It should be better!

See U! biggrin.gif

Hey Nahuel smile.gif I've been studying vocal techniques too - especially stuff which was derived from here www.trainmyvoice.com
Everything you're saying makes perfect sense tongue.gif but in EVTS and EVI technique language, the techniques have different names biggrin.gif

Glad that you are interested in properly using your voice wink.gif now how hard is it for you to play guitar and sing in the same time?

It ´s not SO hard to sing and play for me, it was at the beginnig, you need to practice that's all.

I feel more confindent when I have a guitar while singing, i don't know why huh.gif

I also do not trust so much in this "singing lesson" via internet, Brett manning wiht his "singing success", Pier Bristow "the zinging zone" etc, because they focus on pop/ rock. No one has a real clue about singin metal/nu metal and even though is more or less the same techniques, it is not the same, you know what I mean? I don't know about EVTS or EVI (they are new to me) r they good?
I would like to sign like Matts Leven ( Y. Malmsteen - Facing the animal) and to have some guturals like chad from Mudvayne! and straight to the fame tongue.gif !

what about you Cosmin?
who is your favorite singer?
