K so basically, were looking to record ourselves, we need something from $100-$500 but we also wanna be able to make a demo on a cd and be able to put the songs on our comps...anything that can do this? only thing we've really looked at so far is the Boss BR-600, any ideas? thanks

But still I want answers, what's the point, what does all this mean?

You are definately looking at the right kind of device for your price range - the next level up would be a PC + Interface + Cubase kind of setup - that would easily bust your budget, but these little portastudios are fantastic value for money these days, unlike when I were a lad - they used to be cassette based and the quality was suspect, but the new generation of digital portastudios are a lot better.

I don't have any specific recomendations in that area, but check the reviews and read a decent sound recording magazine and you should get an idea - they are probably all pretty good to be honest.
