Here's the deal, I will have about $1000 +\- in two weeks from my paycheck and student loans coming in and i have for sure decided i want a new electric. Gabriel's Les Paul caught my eye but more importantly my ear with its one of a kind tone(muffled but strong). Then of course the Pavelmaster with his Vaistick has made me think i may want an ibanez for ULTRASHREDS. Imgoing to the music shop to test out some LP's cus ive played many ibanezes before. So my question is ... PAVEL, whats in your opinion the best value ibanez around 1000usd and if anyone here has a Les paul, is the neck radially large or is it managable for small hands (thanks dad, freaking midget hands). OH BTW KRIS can we get some specs on your parker(*if it is a parker) also i know the best way forme to find which one i want is to play them...but i dont have too many good music shops close by Thanks for the help whoever! $1000 will get you an Ibanez RG Prestige and some change - awesome guitars everyone says although I've yet to play one. $1000 will also get you a Les Paul Studio, a cut down version of the LP. Both very different guitars, both a try! This post has been edited by Andrew Cockburn: May 7 2007, 01:28 PM -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

I often wonder why the Studio is cheaper, whats the main difference between that and the standard? I'm not an expert, but I think the main differences are in the finish - cheaper paint, no binding etc. I don;t think the tone is compromised to any great degree, but they probably have their own unique sound - I'll let an LP expert chime in here! -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

If/when you get it let us know how it stacks up - I want to add an LP to my collection but it won't be for a long time if I have to pay $2000 for a standard ... -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Well LP and Ibanez are TOTALLY different guitars. As Andrew said - any of RG Prestige will do it as Prestige serie is a middle price Ibanez with great quality guitars.

thanks andrew. I have in mind this.....http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gib...kers?sku=517199 i can put a pickguard on it....it has a slim taper 60's neck and it gets good reviews I have three les pauls. a studio, a mahogany, and also a 58 les paul standard reissue from the custom shop that lists for $3100 (although I got it for $2400). The studio has nothing to be ashamed of, in comparison to the higher priced les pauls. However, I believe that faded you showed is different. I don't think that has a maple top. I think that is like my les paul mahagony. While I like it a lot, it does not have the real have the standard les paul sound. You need the heavier maple top for that. If you have a strat, you don't need an ibanez. 24 frets don't mean squat, I think Eric Johnson has demonstrated that quite convincingly. I don't see how a person lives without a les paul. However, one needs a strat as well. I can live quite happily without a japanese guitar with a 1 year warranty. japanese truck, fine. I love my toyota tacoma. 7 year warranty on that.
