Lp Or Iban!? Pavelmaster Help Me!

May 7 2007, 11:17 AM	GMC:er Posts: 248 Joined: 27-March 07	Here's the deal, I will have about $1000 +\- in two weeks from my paycheck and student loans coming in and i have for sure decided i want a new electric. Gabriel's Les Paul caught my eye but more importantly my ear with its one of a kind tone(muffled but strong). Then of course the Pavelmaster with his Vaistick has made me think i may want an ibanez for ULTRASHREDS. Imgoing to the music shop to test out some LP's cus ive played many ibanezes before. So my question is ... PAVEL, whats in your opinion the best value ibanez around 1000usd and if anyone here has a Les paul, is the neck radially large or is it managable for small hands (thanks dad, freaking midget hands). OH BTW KRIS can we get some specs on your parker(if it is a parker) also i know the best way forme to find which one i want is to play them...but i dont have too many good music shops close by Thanks for the help whoever! If/when you get it let us know how it stacks up - I want to add an LP to my collection but it won't be for a long time if I have to pay $2000 for a standard ... I could never figure out why those twomodels were so inexpensive! the next cheapest slim taper 60s neck LP is like 1,700usd Oh...also, my fender is very nice (50's vintage maple neck mexican)but since it is vintage it has nooo good tone for crazy metal stuff....could this be fixed with pickups? I actually like the sound from the Studio better than the standard (of course, that's the one I put better pick-ups in) I continue to look at buying a Parker as it seems to be the most versatile guitar I can find. I like the Ibanez but it simply can not hold a candle to the blues sound of the the Les Paul. However, if you're a shredder than you really aren't playing music that utilizes the Les Pauls best qualities and would probably be better suited with the Ibanez. When buying a guitar you need to buy the one that does what you want to play the best. I use a Strat for good old Rock n' Roll, I use a Les Paul for Blues and some Heavy Rock, I use a Telecaster for Buddy Holly type stuff. Short answer, No. You can play Master of Puppets on a Strat with killer pick-ups, but you won't be able to make up for the weight and wood of the guitar. It all depends on what you want to play. My Les Paul faded with the hot 490T and 498T humbuckers has great sound, but tougher lower fret access and my Ibanez Prestige RGA121 has better fret access (double cutaway) and decent sound, lots of possibilities with the 5 way switch, from single coil Strat sound to Deep Humbucker sound. I tried to sell the Les Paul on ebay, but it was my only guitar that did not sell out of 6 that did not fit my style. $599 starting bid including a Gibson Hardshell case, I think I'll keep it. Lower fret access is tough, but where it does play it is fast thanks to the 60s slim neck. Another inexpensive guitar you might want to look at is the Fender Showmaster HH, it has 24 frets, strat type whammy bar, 25.5 inch scale, and two hot Seymour Duncan humbucker pick-ups for $629 new. They can be had for less used. It also has a 5 way switch which allows you to get fat humbucker sounds for anything from Jazz to metal or Strat type single coil sounds for Clapton or Hendrix. I got an Ibanez RG1570MRB Prestige for £500 here in Scotland, so thats probably around $800 - $900, and its the best guitar i've ever played. Its just so quick and smooth, and if you want a floyd, i'm afraid you'll have to go Ibanez, they do the best floyds out there, the edge pro is godly. But thats only my opinion.
