Shred:

I'm gonna give a vote for the hard rock stage. Haven't heard a voice like that in ages.

yeah, his voice is amazing. I couldn't see him live (he came to Argentina many times!) but there is a dvd live at sao pablo (Brazil) where he plays many of his rocker songs... he sings and play at the same time and he does is so perfect!

oh yeah! I missed that Kris post! Thanks Sollesnes! However the topic here is Richie's playing style... Shred vs Fusion vs Hard Rock. His technique suffered a big metamorphosis through the years... I read an interview where he said that he was happy with his "evolution" but that he knew some people who think that it was an "involution". What do you think?

It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

Amazing topic Gabriel - I would like to add his blues album bi-polar blues. In my opinion it's the best blues rock album ever! Example song:

The Howe collaborations and the hard rock albums biggrin.gif most definitely smile.gif I think Richie is a tremendously well balanced combination between technique melody and feel!

He's an awesome player, so versatile, and he can sing! It's so important for guitar players to know how to sing, without it it's very hard to make it.

I've found for Ritchie Kotzen through a different player tho, Stevie Salas. Here's a live clip where he plays bass and sings, and Stevie plays guitar. They play funk-rock, and it kicks! smile.gif
