Hello there! I don't know if this was done before, but i decided to make a topic about bands that are influenced by traditional music or bands that play traditional music. And on this topic i want us to post some cool bands that are influenced by traditional music.
Here are some bands that i know:
Al Jawala - balkanic, gypsy influenced music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlc6jpsdYvI
Plains of the elite - mongolian traditional music, throat singing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkK-55GYvSM
Taraf de haidouks - romanian and gypsy traditional music ...this video is from a movie called Latcho Drom and is about gypsy music and it's origins, i think. It's a documentary.

Lei Qiang - Chinese traditional music ...very relaxing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDhZPqYV-vk

Laço Tayfa - jazz, turkish music, oriental...i found about these guys from Cosmin biggrin.gif
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6UTUT1TTUk
Zoran Starcevic - great guitarist, serbian music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmmUx0ObkqE...nel_video_title
Corvus Corax - medieval music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlDBDS6Mwow
Orphaned Land - heavy metal band with oriental influences

Emir and Muris ( i love these guys) and i love this video biggrin.gif

Cool topic smile.gif I'll check all these guys. I'll add Nguyen Lê to the list, a fusion guitarist who works alot with traditionnal music, especially vietnamese music. He's also my uncle so i'll make a bit of advertisement tongue.gif

This is one of my favorite track but i couldn't find it on youtube so i hope you don't mind grooveshark
http://grooveshark.com/s/The+Black+Horse+L...+O/2UVnVu?src=5

And a unique performance mixing electric guitar, koto and tablas. It gets a little more modern around 5:05 mins smile.gif

Wow...your uncle is great! I really like the link you gave me!
I like the videou too! Thank you for sharing!
And i want to say this one more time: Your uncle is great! biggrin.gif

This is a band from my city...the band is called Phoenix (also known as Transsylvania-Phoenix). The band was formed in 1962, but they only started to mix Rock music with traditional folk music in the 70s. They are really big here in Romania and i think they are also well known in other countries from Europe and maybe other continents.biggrin.gif
This is a song called Baba Novak...i think it has some Macedonian influences...so this is it:

Hope you enjoy it!:D
