I always :lol:laugh when I get a Email like this one:

QUOTE
Office Of The Director:
The British Finance Monitoring Unit,
(Debt/Payment Relief & Accreditation
Office) London England.

Attn: Beneficiary,

Be inform that it has come to our notice that a huge sum of money has been
credited in your name for transfer and is currently floating in the
International Banking Community/Computerized Financial Database.
Under the stipulated Law of the Government of Great Britain, Wales and
other member countries of the United Nations, any huge amount of money
that has been found in the international computer data system waiting to
be transferred without claims for a period of 6 months or less, shall be
confiscated and forfeited to the United Nations account.

We do hereby ask you to contact this office immediately for ratification
within the 5 working days ...bla bla bla..

So I decided to give them all to charity!!!

I received messages from a variety of former princes, kings, financial moguls, with a similar story - money, money, money,"I'll give you $ 100,000 if you... ", and I have no idea how they find me, hahaha.
Of course, I know that it's all a spam, but the human imagination has no limits !!

Do you have similar interesting messages ??

Just be careful about responding to these spammers. Simply replying to a spammer could be dangerous. They have their ways of getting your information. This is called "phishing." I learned this in college. You might cause a "backdoor" into your computer, and then some could get into your computer or just steal your identity. Use caution.

I have replied before too, but I've been told not to, so I've have stopped for those reasons. If anything, it just lets the spammers know that email account is active - thus, you get more spamming emails.

Hahahaha yeah, I received a similar email by a guy renting a property but he said I had to transfer the money first so that he could reserve it for me, coincentially it was an awesome deal...I did respond though and told him to pick it up in a town near him, so maybe he went hahahah

I won't respond in the future though

Yeah it's really weird when you see that you have an email from someone who a ) you haven't spoken to in ages or b ) you don't like... and then you open it and realise it was just spam... then you breathe a sigh of relief ! laugh.gif

By replying to spam or ever opening it to display (rather than text/header) only, normally lets the spammer mark your email address as active and they spam more or sell it on. This is a bad idea, once marked it's normally for life.

I personally get no spam, except on my hotmail account (which i use for online signups, newletters and contests, etc). Also if you use real names / words in your email address you tend to get targeted more or have posted it and it appears unsecured on websites (bots will crawl/test it).

Most importantly don't open the attachments! PDFs, etc, are normally all infected trojans.

I've seen so many: congrats your email has randomly been selected to win prize draw #41237, $100,000.00! Please full in the PDF form attached to claim your prize. When the file is just bait for you to curiously open, infecting yourself with a virus.

Or the common: Your World of Warcraft account has been illegally accessed from different computers (IP addresses), and it is under infestigation. Your account details might have been stolen, but we would like to warn you that it's illegal to share your account or sell it onto other people. To protect your account we require you to login to your bizzard account via this link to confirm you as the current owner. If left unconfirmed for 7 days your account will be blocked for security reasons. Link is slightly off and is a phishing site (looks like the offical site but fake) to steal your details.

A lot of spam has poor spelling or layout. A lot of curious people or kids (maybe even knowing it's spam) will still check them out and get marked or infected.

Instead view full message header and you can tell by the return senders address if it's a fake pretty easily, they probably will spoof the address (try fake it). When bored, I personally love to back track spam messages, lol.

tonymiro - maybe that isn't spam? kidding! lol
