Hey guys!

I've been a member for a while , I guess almost 2 years but I never had a chance to check the forums, talk to other members even practising the guitar. I all did was watching a new video for everyday and that was about it. I'm 31 years old and I traveled a lot in the u.s. , and also in my home country turkey. Now I'm back home and can spend some time to my personal life and hobbies. I'm trying to build an education&consulting company nowadays and if I can't, Im gonna work as an export customer in some company which is what I did in the past 2 years in my career. Other than that I'm a big fan of soccer, and I like traveling.

Okay enough with my boring life, let's talk about music:)) Well, I got 2 guitars at the moment which are Ibanez Jem 7v and Ibanez JS 1000 BP. I got that satriani series guitar in seattle in 2005 but believe me I just started playing 2 weeks ago how sad isn't it:)) My favourite guitarist are jason becker, marty friedman, satriani, vinnie moore, marco sfogli, jeff loomis and john petrucci. I would like to build a guitar playing on techniques mostly based on sweep picking,unusual/eastern melodies and want to combine metal with sufi music in my song writing. I'm a beginner with a 31 age but it doesn't mean that I can't dream right? smile.gif) whenever I can become an advanced player, I would like to have one or two 7 string guitars so that I can get a bigger chance to make unusual music. Well what else I can say about myself...umm I got two favourite bands ; megadeth and dream theater. I think Mustaine is an amazing song writer he always criticise politics and I really like that. And dream theater is like a orchestra band to me, they always shock me with their every new album release. I think change of seasons is a masterpiece, also the last album called Black Clouds & Silver Linings..such an amazing stuff. Thanks for giving me the chance to know you all , I hope to build real friendships in here. Take care you all!

Tolga! Hey there smile.gif I also like Marco Sfogli A LOT!! And i grew up listening to Dream Theater, so I guess I got some prog flowing through my system smile.gif

I got this little lesson here in the style of Marco, if you want to tackle it at some point and regarding age...It doesn't really matter how old you are smile.gif stay young inside and you'll be 20 forever! The guitars that you have are awesome and they will help you a lot through your journey in the musical world smile.gif

Do you know the turkish group called Laco Tayfa? They are my favorite - very good at mixing traditional music with modern jazz and funk!

Thanks Cosmin. I guess were are pretty close to each other, you live in Bucharest? I've been to Bucharest last year for exporting business. Man I had super time in night clubs, I guess cannot talk about it here much herethough its all private:)) Well if u ever have a chance to visit this area izmir&istanbul be my guest.

No, I've never had a chance to listen those turkish guys but I'll check them out.

Marco is a very talented guy, my favourite work of his is element of persuation with james labree. I feel so much melancholy in that album. That is the reason I like rock music, it has so much melancholy, drama, and sadness just like life itself. Well, mostly the time I feel in 20s and Im so happy person normally. To my guitars, I want to add a 7 string schecter hellraiser but probably next year or so. First I need to practise more and more. See ya around!!

Hello Tolga!! It's great that you finally introduced yourself here to allow us know you!! I also like the artists and bands that you listed. You already have great guitars. I'm sure that you'll find lots of lessons here to work on sweep picking and unusual scales (check out Ramiro's big series called "Exotic Scales"). Have you listened to the new Friedman's album? I heard it a bit and I really like it!

Ok man, I hope that you continue enjoying the site! Let us know if you need some help.

Cheers,

Gabriel.-

Gabriel, I listen whatever Marty plays man. I just attended to his concert a month ago. It was his last night for the European tour. He is soo down to earth and quite have a gothic appereance on stage. Vinnie Moore is coming too but I'm not sure if I can go to that one. I need to learn petrucci's right hand technique, marty's bendings and exotic scales, Satriani melodies, and Jason's sweeps. Then I'll be god hehe. Well, I really appreciate for the welcoming warmness. See you around dude!
