Hey guys,
So ive had my Roland 60 Watt Cube for about 9 months now but i dont feel im getting the most from it. My ring is as follows; Roland 60 Watt Cube <------ Boss CS-3 Compressor <-------Boss DDS-3 Digital Delay <------- Boss MD2 Mega Distortion. The AMP is quite a peice of kit, with COSM amoungst many other features. http://www.roland.com/products/en/_support...&prd=CUBE60 JC CLEAN Models the Roland JC-120. ------ LEAD BLACK PANEL Models the Fender Twin Reverb. BRIT COMBO Models the Vox AC-30TB. TWEED Models the Fender Tweed Bassman 4x10 Combo. CLASSIC STACK Models the Marshall JMP 1987. METAL STACK Models the Peavey EVH5150. R-FIER STACK Models the MESA/Boogie Rectifier. DYNA AMP A BOSS original amp model that allows for a wide range of tonal variation from clean sounds to deep distortion, all controlled by the player's picking dynamics. *********************************************************************** 99% of the time i have it on JC Clean with my Distortion Pedal and Delay (minimal) on. But I dont really know how toget the best of this setup. Gabi gave me the settings he uses for shred, but i cannot get a similair tone! Roland say i should only use my Pedals on JC clean, is this correct? I really like playing with distortion but i get too much feedback when i use them with any of the Lead models. What settings would you guys suggest?

You could also try to put the compressor before the distortion. I bet that gives another sound then it's up to you to fingure out which sounds better. For all cases I'd keep the delay last in the chain. (Figure if you have a loop better put it in there. Time-effects goes in the loop and if you don't have one the closest to "loop" is to put the last in the chain) That's how I'd do it on a valve amp with a loop channel guitar->comp->dist->amp loop: delay I'm not very experienced with solid state amps though. I don't know the Roland Cube but I guess you have channels with distortion already. In my opinion there's no need to distort an already distorten signal. But... there are no rules. If it sounds good just do it! Delay is very suitable for any channel but I'd run the distortion pedal only on the clean channel. Perhaps Roland said what they said because the amp has built in effects already, does it? In that case if you want to run your delay you have to shut the built in effect off. Or else it will sound like crap. So my guess, judging from Rolands answer is that the clean channel has NO effects turned on, giving you theh opportunity to use any effects of your own choice without colliding with the built in ones. All other channels have delay, dist, chorus, flanger or any other common effects and if you put a delay on that you'd most likely ruin the sound. And I'm sure Roland want their customers to be happy with the sound. Right? Don't know if I mentioned it already but by putting the compressor first I wouldn't be surprised at all if the feedback is gone. In my opinion that compressor sould be first to enhance the characteristics of the guitar itself. If it's too far away in the chain (which is anything further away from first position  )it got nothing from the guitar itself to work with.
