Hey guys

I need your help!

I was offered to sell my Ibanez SV5470f Prestige guitar for 2350$ or exchange it for Ibanez Prestige RG2550z + 1200$.
I really don't know what to do!@#$%^&*
My guitar is great but my amplifier sucks and if i'll get the RG2550z (which is also a great guitar) I'll be able to get a new tube amplifier.

My guitar -> http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-SV5470F
RG2550z -> http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/ele...550z/index.html

I paid 1800$ (the original price was 2200$) for my guitar and today it's not possible to get another one like that in Israel.
The RG2550z costs 1750$ in Israel.

Further more, The RG2550z was bought 4 months ago and it's still in warranty for another 8 months.

What would you do if you were in my situation?

Thanks (:
Amir

BTW
I was at Dream Theater's concert last night in Tel Aviv, It was amazing!!!
I'll upload some pics tomorrow

Looks like simple math... ekk confused! unsure.gif ohmy.gif

A great guitar needs a good amp, else your just wasting it's quality... however if it's got good feeling to your playing axe and your got attachments, it might be hard to fine something nice or better to fit it's hole. So, be careful before trading it away, but it does look like a good deal, if your not attached to it.

I personally wouldn't give up my axe unless something special could replace it. Saying that i did just save up a bundle for a new amp to go with it and it's the sweetest sounding thing I've ever heard now (worth forking the dosh)!

Money wise it looks to be in your favor, but I would not do anything unless you play the other guitar. If you cannot before the transaction, save up and buy the amp in a few months.

Just don't make any rush or emotional decisions...

Keep us posted on the outcome!

You have a very nice guitar there. If you like how it plays, wait and collect money for a good amp or play through Line 6 products in the mean while. Otherwise, you will regret your sell. Nice guitars doesn't come again and again.

Hey mate! I say, try the guitar, see what comes naturally to your hands and ears (if you have the possibility, keep it for a few days and put it to a strong test to see if it's really what you want)

Otherwise, don't rush smile.gif analyze all the possibilities and if there's any chance you might have on saving money for a new amp and the guitar you are offered is not what you want/ need, then don't make the trade. wink.gif

Let us know if we can assist further smile.gif

Thanks for your comments!

As far as i've read on the web, the RG2550z is great for metal and rock which are my mostly played style.
I mostly play Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore and stuff like that and i'm sure the guitar will satisfy my needs.

Unfortunatly I won't be able to buy a new amp for at least 6 months due to lot of expenses
My current amplifier sucks and kinda not working properly right now so getting a new amp will be a great option.

Of course i'll try the guitar but I think i'll might go for the exchange.
In the future I can change the pickups to the Crunch Lab or LiquiFire (or both biggrin.gif ) by DiMarzio and guitar will be much better with amazing sound.

I've been reading for hours about the guitars and I've found something very interesting.

As you can see, the differences are the body, the pickups and the bridge.

I'm pretty sure that DiMarzio's pickups are better but it doesn't matter since I am planning on replacing them in the future.
The body is different, therefore i'll have to do alot of tests till i'll be sure which sounds better.
The RG2550z's bridge is much more flexible than the SV5470f's and I think it's a great advantage.

Do you know how the difference between the bodies will effect the sound?

I have tried only RG model in the store, so I cannot comment on a comparison. From what I've seen, it's a fine instrument. Making that much money with the trade is something that you should consider, but as people said, don't be impatient. Try the RG thoroughly. If you suspect anything, don't push the trade. Remember, if you loose your guitar, and get a second one that you don't like, you haven't done yourself a favor, even if you buy an amp.

So the guy is playing fair, that's good to hear. Examine the guitar, record both of them. I somehow think (although doesn't have to be that way) that your guitar will have more richer tone and better low end. Let's wait and see smile.gif

Basswood can give you a heaver sound, I personally would change the pickups. Evos pickups can sound killer in basswood for heavy metal/rock.

Your original axe I believe would be a lot smoother playing, taking that and the bridge into consideration. So it really comes down to your style of music?

If I won't like the guitar I have another option which is to sell my guitar for 2500$ which will allow me to buy a new guitar at the same level as mine

At this budget I can buy the following guitars:

- Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash
- Fender American Vintage Hot Rod '57 Stratocaster
- Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster
- Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster HSS
- Ibanez JS1000 ( Joe Satriani )
- Ibanez AT100CL-SB ( Andy Timmons)

And many more

Amp will come in the future smile.gif
