Ok well lets face it. Whammy bars are cool. And any guitar that has a floyd rose trem. is just a little bit cooler then all other other guitar tremelos. But, Im scared to by a guitar with a floyd rose trem. I dont have any idea what id do if I broke a string or how I would fix it. Idk if there all as good as there claimed to be ? Or if I should just go for a Strat. with a simple trem. Right now im looking at a Jackson King V , and one of the Jackson Dinkies. But before I make a rash choice I want to make sure im not digging myself into a hole. I need to know how it works. What its made for. And what to do when breaking a string. Is it hard. Are they as good as there claimed to be. And do you recomend it. And personal experience with floyd rose is greatly appreciated. Thanks- John I think the first question you should ask yourself is what sound you expect from the guitar. The Jackson King V with a HH pu setup wont sound the same as a Strat with SSS or even HSS. So don't make a buy you'd not be happy with in the future. And with all the information about FR trem on this site and on the internet you'd be able to cope I'm sure. If you can hold and turn a screwdriver and an Allen key (not even at the same time) you will be able to set it up. EDIT: I mean, when you look for a guitar you search not only a sound, it should also feel good in your hands. And also tremolo could be one component in what's perfect for you but I don't think you should let that steer you into a certain model unless that crieria is way up on your priority list, but then you shoud get what you WANT and not what you not really want. ok well I want something with floyd rose and a fast neck. That pretty much says ibanzez but are some floyd roses more advanced then others ? - John Yeah, the edge pro (on the prestige models and the Jem) is reckoned to be a much better tremelo than the edge 3. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
