Hey guys, so i'm pretty happy cause i got myself a new iMac, my macbook pro was a bit outdated, so i got this beautiful computer to be able to take down my rendering times, and make the video chat more comfortable too, my macbook pro has a 15 inch, and the iMac is the 21.5 inches smile.gif

LOVING IT, but now i gotta move some files tongue.gif

Congrats! smile.gif The iMac is a great machine for Audio and for Video and for Video Chat! Built in camera and mic is handy and the rig draws less electric/power than rigs of similar spec so it's easier on the electric bill as a bonus! I've been using mine for LOGIC and REAPER. If you use LOGIC you can use any mac you have laying about as "Logic Node" on your gig E network so that you can have extra processing power for plugins! Here is a pic of a rig I had setup for Movie Scoring work/Keyboards where I was using my Mac Notebook as a "Logic Node" and my iMac as the primary computer.

hey todd, you gotta tell me more about that "Logic Node", what does that work?

It's very handy! If you fine you want to run four instances of SPACE DESIGNER or what not, you can use your logic node to handle the processing! You just need a copy of APPLE LOGIC your primary computer. Then you connect both computers to your network hub (most wireless/wired hubs/switches these days are Gig-E/Gigabit Ethernet which is good as Gig E is required for it to work smooth) Then you tell your primary machine to use your backup machine as a "Node" and it will offload any processing tasks it can automatically. It's a great way to leverage older hardware. Here is a link to the apple documentation on setting it up step by step. Let me know what you think!

http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicpro...=6%26tasks=true

Here is a quick blurb on the setup...

"...You can find the Logic Pro Node Installer on the Logic Pro Installation DVD. Install it, and set the system volume of your Node machine as the destination. The Logic Pro Node application has no parameters or GUI elements. It simply needs to be open on the Node machine before you start Logic Pro.

Tip: If you plan to use a Mac solely as a Node machine, you may want to place the Logic Pro Node application in the Startup Items folder. You may also consider using Apple Remote Desktop to control additional Mac computers from your primary system. In this scenario, your Node machines don’t need their own monitors or keyboards....."

But if your not using Apple Logic none of this will help. sad.gif Are you a Logic Guy?

Todd

Thank you Adrian! The thing is, that for me, this will be a total transition, as I have been a PC user all my life smile.gif Since I found a good opportunity to buy one with a nice discount and in leasing (got me a friend working at one of the official Apple dealers tongue.gif), I told myself it would be interesting to make this change. I shall buy a Mac book pro 13, as it is the smallest, and I need power and mobility in a small pack - the price being ok as well - about 950-1000 euros. If you can give me any advice regarding my options or other valuable insight, I'd be most grateful smile.gif
