Hi guys,

this thread is mainly for Cosmin and Ben, but of course anybody who is interested to play a german festival with his band can join in. While it appears to be pretty difficult to apply for the huge festivals like Rock am Ring, it is possible to apply for a bunch of smaller festivals. I am gonna look for the right person to send your promo stuff to, and hopefully I'll see you guys in Germany next year.

First hit:

You can win a gig on the Summerbreeze festival, a big metal festival in the south of Germany (approx. 2h from where I live now). Here is the website for the competition (it is in english as well smile.gif ):
http://en.new-blood-award.de/contact-impr.html

You guys should totally enter this competition!

More to follow...

Christian

Does Voodoo or Aria count as metal? Or does it have to metal in the classic sense? smile.gif

Yeah, there are bunch of festivals in Europe that are open for younger bands. Does anybody has some idea on how they handle traveling expenses?

Yea, I'm almost certain that it's left to bands to sort their own travel arrangements and expenses, which is bit of a bore but we're used to it aren't we, guys ? rolleyes.gif

Yep, the competition I just posted won't cober your travel expenses (it says so on their homepage).
And yes, this particular competition is for metal bands only, but I guess your bands will count, Cosmin...surely won't hurt to send them a CD.
If you guys want I'll check out some other festivals out as well, not only the metal ones. I'll keep you posted...
And who know? Maybe we can start our own GMC festival in a few years smile.gif

We would just have to find a place laugh.gif
Maybe on the island Flores in the mid-atlantic? So everybody would have to travel somewhat the same amount of miles laugh.gif

Just got back from the Mozart Rocks! gig! I'm tired as hell ... Well, I'd love to be able to attend such fests with the bands but I think it's best to start making a little list with the places, organizers and contact details so I won't miss anything...Pfff, only the thought of it makes me shiver biggrin.gif

You guys are lucky, it's a cold and rainy day here in Rottweil...which means I have plenty of time to look for some festivals!
I have found a site that lists basically all the festivals, so I am browsing this site today. It already has many dates for 2012, strangely enough some festival sites have not laugh.gif
Let's begin:

Winternachtstraum Festival (metal), 24.-25.2.2012: http://www.ordenogan.de/WNT2009/index.php?content=contact (they as for CD, Picture, Information and an adress, don't send them emails)

Greenfield, 15.-17.6.2012: You will have to send an email to Mr. Martin Schrader, [email protected] (yep, it's in Switzerland) http://www.greenfieldfestival.ch/intro/index.php

Rock am Tunnel, 29.-30.6.2012: Couldn't find any info on their site regarding applications, just send these guys an email: [email protected] ; Website http://www.rock-am-tunnel.de/

Steiner Burgfestival (metal, kinda medieval), 29.-30.6.2012: no info on their website, just send them an email here: http://www.steiner-burgfestival.de/index.php?PageID=2

Temple of Metal, 7.7.2012: Email these guys at [email protected] Website: http://www.templeofmetal-allgäu.de/index.html

Boarstream, 20.-21.7.2012: No emails! Just send them a CD, Bandbio and all other stuff you might have: http://www.boarstream.de/festival/ (click on impressum to get to the contact dates)

Ragnaroek, 13.-14.4.2012: Email these guys here: http://www.ragnaroek-festival.com/index.ph...=20&clang=1

Rock auf dem Berg: No fixed date for 2012 yet, send your CD to the adress at the bottom of the page: http://www.klemminet.de/radb/Kontakt.html

Eier mit Speck Festival (yes...it's called Egg with Bacon festival laugh.gif ), 27.-29.7.2012, email these guys here: http://www.eiermitspeck.de/kontakt/kontakt/email/ (be sure to click on "Bandvorschlaege" if it is not yet activated)

Open Air Goeßnitz, no dates for 2012, just fill out this form (name, style, email, homepage, links to audio files ) http://openairgoessnitz.de/bandkontakt.php

not sure if this could be interesting for any of you guys: http://www.emergenza.net/?lang=eng

Open Air Weigendorf: no dates for 2012 yet, just send them an email: http://www.openair-weigendorf.de/kontakt/index.html

Ruet'n'Rock, no dates for 2012, send them an email: http://www.ruetnrock.de/?page_id=14 (look below "Bookinganfragen")

Death unites us festival: Send applications via mail, see adress here ("postalisch bewerben" ): http://www.festivalticker.de/festivals/dea...andbewerbungen/

Bang your head festival: This festival is like 30 km away from Rottweil, so please apply wink.gif : http://www.bang-your-head.de/english/contact_bands.php

Keep it true festival: http://www.keep-it-true.de/index.php?optio...=61&lang=en

Magic circle festival, click on contact: http://www.magiccirclefestival.com/en/

Rockharz festival: no info how to apply yet, you should check back regularly: http://www.rockharz-festival.com/contact/application?lang=en

The Vainstream Rockfest in my hometown Muenster could be something for you. I couldn't find any info on how to apply on their website, maybe you want to contact this company, as they seem to care about quite a few festivals and bands: http://www.kingstar-music.com/contact.php

Pretty unknown festival...can't hurt to send them an application: http://www.wacken.com/en/woa2012/main-head...nd-bewerbungen/ wink.gif

That's it for now...I listed the big festivals that allow an application, a few smaller ones, so now it's up to you. I'll check from time to time if some other small festivals will take place next year.

If you need any help translating something or whatever, just ask me smile.gif

Cheers

Christian

p.s.: I only ask one thing in return: grade my rec takes wink.gif

No problem Ben, glad to help wink.gif

I checked multiple sites. Mainyl www.festivalticker.de which gives you an opportunity to apply for any festival by email, but I actually checked every festival site for that info. www.festivalhopper.de is also a good source. Finally, I checked wikipedia for all festivals. These 20 I just listed seem to be the ones that will be active in 2012.
Now I'll go and look for some clubs you can play in. I didn't really see that many german metal bands this year or last year, so it might be a good idea to check facebook or myspace for such bands and contact them.
So, off to researching clubs now!
