Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Explosive Punk Rock by Adrian Figallo

Hi guys,

here is my second attempt on Adrian's lesson. The first take can be found here here

I focused on relaxing my picking hand a lot more and tried to mute unused strings with my fretting hand to avoid too much noise. Hopefully the result is somewhat better than last time (cause it sure felt better) smile.gif

Gear:
Fender USA Strat
Mbox Mini
Garageband (with some punk rock preset)

Thanx for any advice!

Hi Lenni this is a good take cool.gif

I didn't see your previous attempt but I just want to judge this take on it's own performance without being influenced by your other video.

Your rythm is great.. you have really good timing. The only thing that you didn't do the same as the lesson is the really fast strumming near the end.. that's something that you can practice. Try doing it only in small bursts to train your hand to move fast and loose.. it''s a very energetic technique and if you try doing it for a long time you'll run out of stamina so introduce yourself to it slowly by doing it in short bursts.

The other thing I noticed is that you stop the chords a bit prematurely. I imagine you're doing this by releasing the pressure of your left hand off of the strings. Try to hold onto the chords a little longer before you change. It will take a bit of practice because you'll think you're leaving it too late to change but you're not. You've got more time than you think.

These are only minor points that you'll be able to change easily enough.. your performance though was really good biggrin.gif

Good take man! I like your rocker attitude on this one! I think that Ben gave you some really good feedback about the details that must be fixed to get a perfect take. Keep working hard! Cheers.

Very good attitude on this one, you seem to be getting into the piece nicely. The rhythm needs to be more tighter, and possibly making a better tone preset, this one is a bit floppy, it needs to be more punchy for this lesson. The last bit was a bit weaker with those single note rakes. I think it sounded off with timing, so work on that.

Nice take, and very good attitude ! Objection to the tone you've chosen: there isn't enough attack for an explosive powerchord !
Also, in some parts you have small problems with the timing.
