We were told recently that we were down to the last two and so in contention with Sterling Sound in NYC to master a forthcoming CDA. Sterling are one of the best known and very highly respected multiroom, multi engineer mastering facilities in the world and they've mastered a huge number of very successful releases, including a number that have one various music awards.

So I was very happy that we made the cut to the last two as it means a lot for us to be seen as worthy of competing with Sterling smile.gif ...

...
We were also told today that we've got the job biggrin.gif

Thanks guys smile.gif .
They checked out 10 pro studios in total by sending us all a couple of tracks to master but not telling us why before coming up with their final two. Then they sent us a few more tracks. Kind of an expensive way to do the evaluation but arguably much better than judging a studio based on streamed audio from their site or sending them a single test track and telling them why. The producer says he'd much rather pay some cash up front to do his test then find out late in the day that the mastering isn't quite what he wants.

For us it's kind of the equivalent of getting a phone call to be told that you were secretly auditioned for lead guitar alongside some of the famous guitar players you admire and that you got the gig cool.gif .
