Well before starting playing electric guitar i played acoustic guitar for 4 years so i believe i already had the strenght in my fingers when moving to electric and that's why now i like thinner strings the most!
Well again it's a metter of preferences! -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

Little question here.... if you like those DROP tunings why don't you just get yourself a 7-string guitar? Well first of all i am buying a seven string, i actually have one now, but i need a better one (and its not actually really mine ) and I doubt youll believe me, but if you Drop a 7 string to Drop A, It sounds Quite Different than if a six string is Dropped that far, the tone is different, and it just feels alot different in your hands. i drop that far so i can get a similar sound to nile, which you cant really get on a 7. Secondly, Between Car Insurance, This Website, The $70 i just spent on nightwish tickets, my 7 string money fund is not yet high enough for me to purchas the 7 string i want..... http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp...ysubsearch=true |

The link doesn't work for me. Could you post a picture of it?
In my opinion dropping a 6-string gives you much less quality in sound than a 7-string! -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

You know i don't have the 7-string for now so i am only speaking about what i heard from the experience of my friends. We have a band here in my city, and their guitarists played 6-strings for couple of years. They play really heavy music and now they bought 7-strings this year and they say they like it much more - heavier sound and it sounds much more defined.
The 7-string scale lenght is also longer so it is better for drop tunings. Well, i will be able to check it myself once i get a 7-string. For now i only have their and your opinion. Self experience is best, right? -------------------- "It isn't how many years you have been playing, it's how many hours." -- Prashant Aswani "PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!" -- Michael Angelo Batio Check out my video lessons and instructor board! |

My friend has that one! I was setting it up for him - had it 3 days at my home. He bought that one when i was buying JEM! I didn't like it too much. It somehow different than other Prestige serie guitars. Well anyway if it's good for you than it's great!

Yeah he is right, the cutaway has some major restriction issues, ya always need one thats nice and big for full access.

Access is sometimes a problem even on JEM so you should pick the guitar carefully! Really - it's a very important thing!

It becomes a problem if you want to play stuff like 4-nps stretch on D, A and low E string like this: 12-14-17-19 or 12-15-17-19 and similar licks. That's why i wanted the RC-7 badly but it's too expensive and not availabel in Europe for a long time so i'll have to buy something else.
