Hello Everyone! I've only been a member for about a week, and spent about a month checking out the free stuff. I had joined a couple other sites that fell a little short. What seems to push this site past the line is that it's built around a good community of excellent musicians, and I'm really excited to get involved and start learning.

I started playing when I was about 10. I started with an instructor, but the Mel Bay books bored me to death. I wanted to ROCK! So I started trying to learn on my own with books I bought in the store. I guess I got as good as I thought I ever wood, because I just couldn't seem to improve anymore. So that led to frustration and I eventually put my guitar away for about 15 years.

So, here I am. I've been playing again for about a year and I'm playing EXACTLY like I did 15 years ago! I'm looking for anything that will get me over this wall and on to the next level. Hopefully, this is it!

I've started out working on the SRV and blues stuff. Even though I listen to metal and want to shred, I've always liked playing blues. So I guess I'll start there and maybe start working on some faster stuff later. (I still have some work to do on my technique!)

Anyway, I'm still browsing the site and finding new stuff every day! Great site! biggrin.gif

Welcome to GMC! This really is a great community. The one thing I like the best is the amount of personal contact you can have with so many instructors. If you get a chance sit in on a GMC chat they are really great!

See you around!

Welcome mate! My name is Cosmin, I am an instructor here at GMC and... if you like the blues, then you must like bending and vibrato biggrin.gif come down at my video chat session this evening at 8 o'clock (London time) and we'll have a jolly old time discussing these important aspects in guitar playing.

You should also check out some interesting lessons on vibrato - namely Ben's Vibrato Odissey series - which are very good for anyone interested in developing their skills in this matter!

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey/

See the links at the bottom of the page in the link above for the other parts of the series!

Enjoy mate!

It's great you picked up your guitar again. Guitar playing can be challenging, but it's also very rewarding once you overcome the obstacles.

Welcome to GMC! smile.gif I'll bet nearly (if not) all members & instructors know about that stinkin' wall you mentioned. But with the help of the "Dahlanator" & friends, you're gonna bust right through that wall!

Thanks a lot for all the welcomes! They're really appreciated.

I'm playing a Jackson Stealth Pro. I think it's a '92. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Robot. That was my new purchase when I started again! wink.gif

I'm going to try to make the chats. I'm on the east coast of the U.S., so I have to figure out the timing. I think I may still be at work when the chats are happening.

Currently I'm working on Laszlos SRV Style Rhythm (https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/SRV-Style-Rhythm/) along with Gabriels Blues Licks lessons (https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guitar/blues-licks1/) I've always liked his rhythm style, and thought I'd try to get it down.

Once I'm done with that, I'll probably start with some pentatonic soloing, and metal rhythms. Who knows? There's so much on here, I may start learning some Jazz stuff!

I also need to improve technique as well. Picking, coordination, etc. So I probably need to concentrate on that for a while. I'm not really sure.

ZX6, I practice as much as I can. But these days, free time is hard to find. I usually get a full hour 4 or 5 times a week. I wish it could be more, but I'll take what I can get.

Oh no. I wasn't thinking you comment was rude at all. I was just saying I would like to spend more time practing than I do. But, I'm sure EVERYONE feels that way! I feel like the time goes by so fast I probably didn't practice something that I should work on everyday.

You're right on about the patience part, though. That's something I have a problem with! laugh.gif

I should probably have some kind of schedule, so my practice time is much more effecient.
